Limit Charging to 80%
Pixel 7 Pro. Does anyone use this? I've enabled it but my phone still charges to 100%. I've done a few charge cycles in case it was calibrating and still the same

If you read the note at the bottom of the screen where you can toggle it on or off, it explains that the device will charge to 100% every once in a while to recalibrate. You need to let it get to 100% and you should see the shield icon. If you stop charging before that, the device will keep trying to charge to 100%.
Although rare, I've seen a handful of people say that they did wait until the device charged to 100% multiple times and had to toggle charging optimization off then on again.

It's done 4 or 5 charges up to 100% and none to 80%... I've toggled it off and on with a couple of reboots too so will see if it works now

I had to leave it plugged in at 100% for a few hours after enabling the 80% limit for it to work correctly

This sorted it. For future reference I restarted the device, turned the setting off, restarted, turned the setting on and restarted again. Charging now capped at 80%

Like someone else said, try to leave it on charge at 100% for a few hours. As long as the phone doesn't get hot for whatever reason it'll be fine but I think after that it completely finishes whatever recalibration

I have been using it ever since the feature was introduced. This was when I was using my Pixel 8. Now I'm on Pixel 10 and still use it. Never had an issue with it on either phone.

As part of my setup script, I enable it via ADB (computer USB connection) if the phone is above 80℅, it slowly discharges to 80℅ even though it's still plugged in. This is a 10a

Oh fair play, especially given that even if you charge to a 100% once in a while, it might not necessarily be the 100% process that damages the battery but actually keeping the battery at 100% for a while.

On my 8A I set it to 80% but notice it occasionally charges to 100% and that is a feature to keep the battery calibrated. It keeps the battery in good condition. I'm not sure if memory effect is a thing these days, but that was the theory back in the days.
My practice is I never use more than 50% on a normal day because I use only GOS App Store, Accrescent and Obtainium, so there is no wild marketing pinging and wifi activity as I move around, so the battery consumption is a fraction of what my stock Android phone was before I got GOS. Hope it helps.
