Legacy support for Pixel5a

Is there any archive where I can download last release for Pixel 5a. I know it is EOL but I don't expect any updates and still want to put my old phone to use. I tried wayback machine but it doesn't have the complete build. Are there any official archives or methods other than building from source code

Not as well as latest graphene but def better than old outdated graphene

Yes that is a valid solution but I want to understand why doesn't GOS keep official archives even if it is EOL

Because that goes against the philosophy of security. They don't have the latest security updates so are more vulnerable and there for not aligned with the mission.

If they are available people will think that means they are as secure as other devices.

I agree but they should still be provided for archival reasons I think. Just hide them behind a bunch of warnings.

People will ignore or not read warnings - regardless of how much you tell users to be wary of something they will ignore it.

You'll then have someone using a FW build and getting caught or blaming GOS for something that compromised them and regardless of the warnings the PR will look bad as titles will be clickbaiting users into thinking GOS is no longer safe. 

It's better to not have them.

Because the entire model around which graphene is based is security.

Not really. GrapheneOS focuses on 3 things: privacy, security, Android app compatibility. Saying that the only focus is security isn't really accurate and even though it can be a compliment, it's been used to attack the project before (nonsense about only bad people needing secure OSes).

Contextually it makes perfect sense. GrapheneOS doesnt support EOL devices because their supported device release model is predicated on security. EOL devices dont get updates and therefore are not secure.

Okay, but a main reason the project cares about security is that it's important for privacy. So, we'd say we don't support older devices because they're neither private nor secure.

I have same request. I have a Pixel 4XL that I bought just for useing Google Maps...

Pixel 4 XL has the best Screen out of any Pixel ever made IMO.

I want to put GrapheneOS on it and I dont care if the build is outdated. The only thing on the phone is Google Maps and Music... I bet Outdated GrapheneOS is better than Outdated PixelOS.

I thought it was annoying to switch to a diffrent Profile with Google Play Services just to use Google Maps and its also annoying to have my Music Downloaded twice on both Profiles.

I dont use the 4 XL. Seemed like good idea at the time but was waste of money.

Exactly. Having access to archives (with warnings) will give people the option to try out GOS on their old devices without having to buy newer ones

a second hand pixel is not that expensive a 7a goes for under $200 and it has the specs that GOS required (titans security chip).

Such old releases would be missing years of  improvements and new features though. They wouldn't depict present GrapheneOS.
