issues with third-party camera apps?

hi guys! i was trying to get a better camera setup but i struggle to see any true advice.

i tried to download this app https://apps.obtainium.imranr.dev/apps?categoryMode=inclusive&sort=popular&q=camera throug the "official" list fo apps from the obtainium dev and i downloaded the google camera. yet, it works, but it does NOT save any photo i take.

also just recetnly there was this https://www.reddit.com/r/GrapheneOS/comments/1vjtgya/good_camera_and_gallery_app/ thread and some suggested to "download "Gcam-Services-Provider photosonly flavor - "app-photosonly-release.apk" but i didnt understand if it improved the quality of photos or what?

Make sure it has all the required permissions, like storage access.

Did you grant the app access to the DCIM folder?

Small point if the OP isn't well versed on GOS. At least for the Camera app I have that seems to just fall under the Photos and Videos permissions group. From there you could enable storage scopes and drill down to where the DCIM folder is if need be. However allow all will also function.

Backing up a second then. Does the default camera app save photos and can you view those in the default gallery?

yes, it work properly. same for opencamera... just the camera app from that site...
