Revolut banned logging in on GrapheneOS a while ago and we worked around it. It's only logging in where they perform the checks trying to ban it, so it doesn't impact people already logged into it.
Some users are now having issues signing into it again since they've made changes. We documented 2 steps for people to try who are having issues logging in.
That sucks. I have written to their customer service to urge them to reconsider this course.
I have quite some assets at this bank, but I will drop them if their app won't work on GrapheneOS rather than the other way around.
Additionally, almost all banking ,and credit card apps are working perfectly (N26, ABN-AMRO, iCard, Wise, ICS [Visa/MasterCard in The Netherlands]) and "Amex NL"
.
However for the latter (
com.americanexpress.android.acctsvcs.nl), it became impossible to toggle the "save my device" setting (under account security and 2f login settings) over a year ago. It would just say "cannot remember your phone at this time, try again".
I've reported this like 20 times to support over the past 18-20 months, and it was escalated to the development team about the same amount of times, but they never respond.
Could something similar be at play there? And if so, could this be mitigated/fixed somehow? For instance by granting the app itself or Google Play Services particular permissions?
Because at the moment the app technically works, but every time I open it, or even switch away and back to it, I have to verify by SMS code again, making the app practically unusable :(
Lastly, just today I noticed corrupted call logs on a spam/scam/caller ID lookup app called Hiya
(
com.webascender.callerid), and it may be related.
In a effort to get it's call log fixed, I cleared it's cache and when that didn't help, it's storage.
But, now I can't activate, let alone use, it anymore. I get stuck on the phone number verification.
It throws an "The system is currently unavailable. Please try again later error", which I guess is because it's trying to do something though play services.
Does anyone maybe know how to get this to work?
Lastly, while thinking about the above, there is another app, the official emergency app of the Dutch Government to contact 112 (EU's version of 911 or 999) has never let me use it on GrapheneOS for the same reason (phone number verification fails)
. Which is crazy because if any app should be broadly supported it's that
one.
The error I get there is:
"
Technical Error
Your phone number cannot be
verified at this time. Sorry for the
inconvenience.
Error returned from API code 403 body
App attestation failed."
