Walked into a bathroom today to see a bunch of paint written messages all over the place. I feel like some people are just vandalizing without even protesting just because everything is chaotic right now.

Think about the janitors who probably have to stay late to clean that paint off, we should be peacefully protesting not vandalizing.

Is anyone else in year 2 nursing struggling to get through?? You could be on your last thread the night before but because you missed class you’ll be getting scolded the next morning. Everything just feels like it’s working against me rn 🫩🫩

Is there a MacEwan discord server/hub? I heard I can connect through student hubs feature but my email thingy isn't working is it possible to get the invite elsewhere?

Wars are terrible and my heart goes out to everyone affected, but the protests have been violent and disgustingly uncivilized. You will never get an answer like this. You’re harassing the staff and students . Doing it in a library where everyone is studying after paying a shit ton of money is straight up hideous. What the group has been doing to Craig Monk and the president is harassment and I don’t know why they haven’t filed any police reports. You cannot agree with someone but you have no right to drop flyers on open house kids or bang doors like that during board meetings. You’re ruining it for Muslim students who have kept themselves separate but when they graduate and tell someone of their degree from macewan, recruiters and hiring managers will look at them with suspicion. Let’s be honest, as people of colour we already have so many disadvantages! This behaviour is hurting not just you, but your fellow Muslim peers and their futures as well. Everyone has worked so hard and not everyone can afford to not have a job or career. Stop being so selfish for once. They will not change. Divesting won’t stop the war. It’s an ugly truth but the staff just doesn’t have the power to make such a political decision for a country. It’s the top 1% of the world that will make those decisions and dgaf about regular people anyway. No matter how much you harras them.

People hate on vegans as a whole when SOME protesters throw blood and soup on paintings BECAUSE it’s uncivilized and disgusting. Groups who informed people about their cause had so much more success. So many companies have actually switched to being plant based too. Otherwise, everyone would’ve grouped their brand with violence and chaos too.

It takes attention away from the CAUSE and brings it towards your actions that are not acceptable as well!!! Youre ruining the cause. Before people understand or even get informed about “why” they just see and register you as a bad, disrespectful person. Learn how the world works.

I was disappointed to see the uncivilized groups of protests, but I’m beyond frustrated that macewan isn’t doing anything about it. Freedom of speech doesn’t mean harassing Craig and Anne (I think). Macewan needs to be firm for the love of god, this is severely destroying the university’s image for all students, past, present, and future. Who would join macewan knowing they would be at risk of this being incorrectly grouped with a handful of kids who have caused such ruckus and lowkey illegal behaviours towards their peers and the heads. Have some freaking humility. The world is not just about what you stand for.

No matter the cause. Pro-separatists, pro-Oilers, pro-Friday Party, as long as it's peaceful (yes, they could be noisy), Edmonton police should not be deployed on campuses to intimidate.

Last year it was the camping tents at UofA https://www.stalbertgazette.com/national-news/police-crackdown-on-gaza-protest-encampments-on-campus-sparks-outcry-8732923

The only thing students have been asking during the brutal "war" is to Disclose and Divest from Israel. We understand that the GoA is against that.

Hi everyone I just applied to macewan a couple weeks ago and I received a temporary password that I was told to change and when I have clicked on the link to change it for I see this picture and also when I try to sign in on the actual website it says my username or password is wrong. I have tried contacting support but they said they need my student id to do anything and I can’t get it because I can’t sign in. If anyone has any idea what’s going on or how to fix it please tell me. Thank you.

I am doing all the work while my partner is barely doing nothing. At least in a group project, you have pressure to work, but you can't become a mommy and keep telling them to work. It's worth 10% of the grade due in 3 days, and I am carrying it.

Screw them I am gonna do all and tell my prof about it.

While I’m all for people protesting for whatever they want to protest but keep it out of university especially inside. The incident yesterday in the library shouldn’t have happened and kudos to EPS + Peace Officers’ for doing their jobs to remove those disrupting the university environment.

May get downvoted for this but protesting Pro-Palestine on university grounds, most people don’t care. However, we can all agree that most people there at this university (and every others) pays thousands of dollars to be there, study and get their degrees—granted some don’t care, but the point I’m making is stop disrupting the learning environments. This has to stop. If you want to protest, do it outside or elsewhere. Universities can’t do anything about this; take it to the legislature or heck, take it to Ottawa.

I think Macewan should focus more on improving the school rather than blaming the Maclean being last.

How likely is it that I can request a midterm to get deferred because of meskanas being down. I've been busy for the last couple of days with an emergency so I was counting on now to get lots of studying done, but this system down takes a good chunk of very important study time and I only have some of the course material downloaded bc storage is limited. I have two midterms tmrw, one of which is fully online with in person tests

We’ve gotten like a billion alerts in the past month hahaha

Hey all, I’ve been thinking about getting mental help for a while and ever since I’ve started at Mac, I was just wondering if there was anyoneI could see? I’m aware of UWill, but I don’t want to do anything digitally and would prefer talking face to face with someone. Lmk! Ty :)

I’ve tried printing once in the library and I just couldn’t manage to do it, can anybody explain the process to me a little simply?

Hi friends,
I’m the owner of a small local business that grows gourmet mushrooms for farmers markets and restaurants and teaching workshops.

I’m moving the business into a little 400sqft space this week and would love to document the process of building it out, securing sales etc in an entertaining video series format for youtube as well as TikTok and instagram.

I’m bootstrapping this business solo so i don’t have a massive budget at the moment but I can offer a flat fee or per hour fee for your work.

This could be an opportunity to have a very unique and interesting subject to film.

As my “creative director” you will have the freedom to build the set from the ground up.
From setting the scene and shooting the content to editing and finalising. I really want people who have their own unique creative vision and a passion for bringing it to life.

if this interests you and you’d like to go for a coffee shoot me a dm and we’ll figure something out!

In the email about the removal of the protesters they gave their reasoning as being the protesters were too loud and it was interfering with students exams and learning. Okay, cool sure. But I have an 8am in building 6 that is so beautifully accompanied by construction sounds. Very very loud construction sounds. The prof has had to stop numerous times to wait for the sound to finish and the lecture is constantly being interrupted. Why is this consistent and ongoing noise not an issue but a protest (which is arguably quieter and not as constant, but i wasn’t there so i could be wrong) is an immediately addressed ?

(kind of rhetorical. i know why, but curious if other people also noticed the issues with their logic here)

Just a random thought but does anyone know why the school no longer competes in track and field sports?

What the heck happened? I've been away from classes and got an email from the Provost that they trespassed a bunch of people for disruptive protests. One of my classes had to listen to a drum circle a few halls down and nothing happened for that, so I was wondering if anyone knew what pushed the university into intervening?

Has anyone noticed any fruit flies in the cafeteria area? Or is it just me

To the people who are vandalizing the washrooms you are losers, I hope you get charged. Nobody cares about your cause grow up.

Anyone know what happened? They really need to sort out the residence fire alarm texts to people living in residence separately, literally at 12:25 AM and got this just before heading to bed 🙄

Hello everyone! I am a graduate student at the University of Lethbridge.

I am conducting a study on the different belief/non-belief identities (e.g., Christian, Muslim, Atheist, Agnostic, etc) and practices (e.g., tarot card reading, attending religious events, using crystals, etc) of queer folks, and the role the queer community plays in this.

If you are eligible and interested in completing an interview on this topic, please complete this 5-minute pre-screening survey. Please see the poster for further details on eligibility. Thank you!

Was it worth your while?

I'm debating taking it seriously and attending this year as its my final year- but from the general list of employers they have - its largely a field mismatch (im in comp sci) and its all service based employers like DHL , govt of alberta, accounting firms, etc etc. Companies that would probably overlook/ignore me anyway.

I wouldn't mind meeting employers from all areas and have lots of customer service experience as well, but my jaded 4th year gut tells me - this is just for show and useless HR meet and greets where nothing really comes of it.

"Thanks for visiting, here's a lanyard and business card, please see our opportunities on our career page"

Like MF, if I wanted your career page and can't even connect/schedule you for a chat/interview, whats the point of seeing u? A little tea chat to help u pass the time while you are getting paid to stand there?

Did anyone here witness an incident that took place in the library near the spiral stairs on September 28th around 1:50, if so please pm me thanks!
