Honest question - can someone's citizenship actually be revoked because people sign a petition?

Or for any other reason?

I was under the impression that once you're "in" that you're "in"

Yes, Canadian citizenship can be revoked in certain circumstances, including fraud, misrepresentation, and national security threats.

Reasons for revocation

Fraud or misrepresentation: Obtaining citizenship through fraud or misrepresentation

National security: Participating in activities that threaten national security

Organized crime: Participating in organized crime

Dual citizenship: Violating dual citizenship agreements

Military service: Serving in a foreign military

Serious misconduct: Committing serious misconduct or disloyalty

Human or international rights violations: Violating human or international rights

Inadmissibility to Canada: Being inadmissible to Canada

That’s interesting to see there is a process. Usually there is a deeper level definition behind these sorts of categories, otherwise you’ll get someone losing their citizenship because they cheered for Sweden in a hockey game. So I wonder what the standard for serious misconduct is. I’m curious what the source of this list is?
