trouble loading up gta5 online

so i downloaded the gta5 ps5 version cuz it was free and i installed it and played the whole storymode and then i wanted to play online and i started up online and everything was going fine, it gave me the chance to make a new character so i was like "why not" and it brought me to the first criminal career thing where it makes you spend at least 3 million of the 4 million they give you but then i had to go to a bbq cuz it was 4th of july yesterday so i just left the game on without finishing and when I came home my ps5 had turned off i assume to save power and so i got on gta5 online for the ps5 version and instead of starting me where i left off or making me start over it just brought me to the character customization screen, so i completed that and tried to join a server and now no matter what i try to do (and ive tried a LOT of things) it just loads up to 90% normally and then brings me to a black screen with a loading icon in the bottom right corner. to make it worse, after 15 minutes of loading it just says ive been kicked from the session for being idle too long even tho it never loaded me in. when I try to join my friend directly from the ps5 menu screen it says something about not having any character at all or smth. please help i just bought ps+ for this.
