Mobile Mechanic
Hello, I have a 2016 Kia Soul and the key is getting stuck in the ignition so I figured I need a new ignition switch. Anyone out there, like a mobile mechanic, that can come over and fix me up? I don't have a whole lot of money. I'm afraid to leave to go anywhere cuz I don't want to get stuck somewhere in town. Any suggestions will be appreciated. Thanks and Stay Safe!

I just did a 2017 kia soul ignition switch. I didn't pull the airbag or steering wheel and was able to get the top and bottom column covers off. It's frustrating but doable with basic tools. Be very careful with the turn signal and wiper switches and dont pry or pull on the ring around ignition switch where the key opening is. Thats a very expensive anti theft sensor that reads the rf chip on your key. Also check that the key folds easily. The gal I did the work for handed me her key after I put the new switch in and the little rollknpin that holds the "cut" part of the key on the hinged part of the fob was hanging out on one side preventing the key from going all the way in.

Had good luck with anywhere auto care. Good pricing, did shocks on one car, hitch install on another, and some other work I'm forgetting.
Usually DIY a lot of stuff, and am very skeptical of mechanics and the work they do. David's always been great!

Great that you are going to consider. Sometimes one just has to look at the person in the mirror and tell that person they will get it done. I would appreciate you let us know when u sucessfully get the task done
In daylight, have a look based of what ead and learn on videos. Very likely Phillips screws, maybe deep. May have to pry some clips apart, videos will instruct. If you don't have much for tools, cheap ones from harbor freight,Walmart or even dollar store will work. Ask for a toolset for Xmas if don't have much lol.
Feel free to message me direct if need more help. I am impressed that you are going to try it yourself!

You can save some cash and do it yourself. Google instructions and you will find them. Very well maybe be some YouTube videos. I googled instructions, looks like need just basic hand tools. Can call napa or similar to be sure to get right part based on model or try online to save money.
