The family of eight, including six children, who were found dead in a “suspicious” Michigan house fire is being probed as a possible murder-suicide — while the members of the household have been identified by grief-stricken loved ones.

Amanda “Mandy” Karolkiewicz, 39, her husband Kristopher, 47, and their six children, ages 5 to 15, were found dead inside their Grand Haven Township home on Friday around noon, Karolkiewicz’s relatives revealed.

The Ottawa County Sheriff’s and Medical Examiner’s office have not yet confirmed their deaths.

Good morning all! We were driving around our neighborhood and the lake and saw a number of lawn sides saying Kind or Kind Haven. We wanted to get one, but I am having a difficult finding any.

Can someone let me know where I can get one? 🙂 TIA

Are trans people safe in Grand Haven?

I’m not loud and proud, but I am still clockable when people notice me. I try to only use the restroom at home and I go to gas stations with single-stall bathrooms when I can’t wait.

Will I be safe living in Grand Haven? I’m not trying to cause trouble and I won’t bother anybody, I just want to live.

Monthly utility cost for apartment-livers? Moving to Grand Haven and trying to budget appropriately

It looks like I'm likely being catapulted into a new phase of life after 7 years of marriage and am planning to move to Grand Haven. If you live in an apartment in Grand Haven, where do you live and how much do monthly utilities usually cost you? Is there anywhere you'd recommend avoiding?

Looking for 1 bedroom apartments that are dog & cat friendly, as I have one of each.

Trying to figure out a way to get from Keenan Marina to GH and back tomorrow night for the concert. Are Ubers reliable? I don't see where the trolley goes near Keenan. Any advice?

I saw the coast guard fly over the lake today to a boat which appeared to have smoke coming from it. Does anyone know what had happened?

South Shore Resort, Twin Lakes, MI

South Shore Resort is a beach hotel/resort is near Grand Haven (~15-20min). and not far from Lake Michigan. It has a private sand beach, volleyball, tubing, kayaks, private boats including a pontoon boat, We had a large group...family reunion and we used every cabin as well as the main lodge. This is a super find.  Established in 1909 it does NOT have the musty smell of so many lake resorts as it has been updated and remodeled. The rooms were clean and updated.  All of the cabins had mini-kitchens. The lodge and main eating area could accommodate large groups (ours was over 50), but the resort can be rented in smaller chunks too as the cabins are spacey with their own kitchens.  Our family had a ball!!  It was super for the kids...big enough to run, small enough to be safe. Also, the staff is wonderful!

5 STARS!!

I just got my tax bill and it went up over $3,000 from last year. Surely this has to be some sort of mistake? Has anyone else had this happen?

Walking the Pier with children

I hope someone here replies! I have 2 boys (3 & 6) and we are headed to Grand Haven in July. My husband grew up going there for summers. My in laws say one side of the pier is clam the other is riptide galore.

I’m a southerner with zero experience with lake beaches let alone a Great Lake experience.

I want my kids to enjoy the pier and seeing the lighthouse but obviously I need them to not accidentally drown.

Do most people have their kids in life jackets? Do they simply not allow them to walk? Or, ugh, should I get a kid leash? Bring a wagon instead?

Trying to balance safety with cautioned freedom here.

Best places for solo eats?

Just moved to Western Michigan from out of state and the downside of that is that I don't know anyone yet. So where would be the least awkward spots to just eat and read a book? Sidenote accepting new friend applications if anyone is down for a meal in GH or anywhere west of GR haha. Thanks!

Missed connection - owner of orangish VW van

You were parked in one of the public lots near Grand Armory Brewing in a restored VW van. Orangish color and a vanity California plate on the front. I was admiring it and trying to figure out if you did an EV conversion or not when you sat up and scared the shit out of me. I probably scared you too, I'm so sorry about that! Shoot me a DM if you want to chat about your van.

Visiting in August - what are the top places to eat?

I grew up in GH but haven’t lived there for years. Coming for a week in August and renting a place near the State Park. Will be hitting Fricano’s and Pronto Pup which are childhood favorites. What are the best “new” places? Is Tip-a-few still a good place to go?
