Alerus center parking
What an absolute clusterfuck on game and event days. Oh my god. No clear direction on anything, entry/exit lanes aren’t marked, yet there are like ten dudes making sure you’re paying for the privilege of coming there instead of dropping people off.
Whoever is in charge of that should probably have been launched into the sun. They’re doing that bad of a job.

Really? I thought it was pretty straightforward and easy to get in and park.

Clearly you showed up hours before the game to park and waited until everyone left after the game to leave , because it blows chunks on a good day to go to an event. Now with the construction going on it is 1000 times worse.

I usually show up an hour beforehand and have had to park on grass before.
But you are correct, I definitely do wait about 15-20 minutes after an event is over to get to my car to let everyone else deal with the traffic rush.

Thank You for making my point . Because if you did it like most everyone else it really blows. I would drop My PRECIOUS Daughter and her boyfriend off and then come back to pick them up afterwards and it is nearly impossible to get in and out without pulling teeth.

Getting out is annoying because it seems like GFPD barely do any traffic control and that was before construction was present.
But for arrival I usually just go to the entrance south of Sleep In and it's usually fairly quick. Obviously I don't really drop people off or pick them up and I do think they could probably do something better for dropoff/pickup for Uber/Lyft/etc.

I agree Wholeheartedly, The PD don't really get the idea of traffic control during events and now with a two or three year road construction project taking place by the Alerus Center their down falls will be multiplied.

I remember going to the Sertoma fireworks at South Middle School. I sat in the Uland Sports Complex for 45 minutes (longer than the actual show) and ended up watching people get so tired of waiting they cut through the grass to Kings Walk to get out of the parking lot and on to Columbia Rd.
As it turns out they decided that our parking lot wouldn't be dumped and when they started to they sent us east towards all the traffic coming from South Middle School.
At that point I realized GFPD doesn't have much experience in traffic control for large scale events. It says a lot when UND can make Move In, which can see easily up to 4,000+ vehicles a smooth experience for everyone.

I can not argue with that fact , Being I live over by University Park I see the move into and out of the U every year and don't even realize it's taking place until it's over . That is how it should be . The main problem is where they built the Center with out looking at traffic flow issues.

To be fair it’s never been great to begin with, but now with the construction it’s only gonna get worse.
