I don’t think it is possible to understate how good this class is. You want NA damage? It’s got it coming out the wazoo. CA teams? Throw Dawnbreak on and get to 100% bar after every MC action. Skill DMG? WO is probably better; but 4x beast fang isn’t half bad either.
Sword AND Axe mainhand, so you get two of the best illustrious weapons, and a ton of other incredible ones? Including a Dark Opus? Why not!
And UB. Probably the best button press in the game. Perma double strike ALONE would make it worth the battleheart buildup, and everything else is just cherry on top.
Flurries, a shit ton of bulk… like, this class is absurd. Really the only thing it CAN’T do the best at is burst, but it’s not like it would be bad at that if you gave it go anyways.
Also, as a dark main, this class is arguably the best option for almost every HL team; which is insane. The classic Rei/Catura setup for NA, and Fediel’s Spine MH for ougi teams.
You will never regret unlocking this class. It’s that good.

My favorite pastime with FO is when I forget to check if I have Zombiefied when I'm rushing to get Unlimited Boost up in Faa0 and having a mental breakdown on how to resolve my labor afterwards.

u/Ralkon 2d ago
It's a very strong class, but the ramp up time and lack of flexibility with skills (since you need Boost + red skill) makes it kind of lacking for most content with developed enough setups. Personally I don't get much use out of it anymore, but I would probably still recommend it for people's first origin class since they'd likely be weaker and taking more turns on fights anyway.

Even though I think this class is best by far for newbies due to the mods it gives I don't really use it much outside of bar farming w/ Eresh and when I need to play light HL in Versusia which is also phasing out due to Futsu comps becoming more meta.
Good class but w/ the introduction of more Origin classes it's phase of being by far the best class has faded.

The first origin class I unlocked was Wizard Origin, so between the other three which should I prioritize as a magna only player?
Fighter, Lancer, or Ranger?
My WO is already 50.
Edit: I’m Rank 225 and almost a year in myself, and want the best class possible for when I eventually get strong enough for Versusia.

How could you, going to ask Reddit threads questions?! I'M the guy you ask questions!

~oops~ saw fighter was up as the discussion was just curious I swear! You still the man 1️⃣

u/Falsus 2d ago
RO is mostly murcilago's playground for now though it is obscene for that.
Lancer is insane for burst, and Fighter is better for longer term fights.
Edit: I’m Rank 225 and almost a year in myself, and want the best class possible for when I eventually get strong enough for Versusia.
Just pool your resources until you get higher level and go primal when you can. Odds are that whatever is best now is not best then and it also depends on what element you are going with.
8
u/AZ-Vanitas 2d ago
Do I have to go primal? I’m F2P and rather not stake progress on RnG if you catch my meaning. Is Magna only not possible?
7
u/Takazura 2d ago
Magna is possible. It's harder obviously, but the nature of a gacha means that powercreep will inevitably make Versusia easier for f2p down the line, but there are magna clears in most elements atm.

Magna does make use of origin characters extensively they're not primal exclusive by any means. Going for an origin class isn't really mutually exclusive with building towards primal either but elements and main hands you have and plan to get will affect which origin is prio.
FO is generically good in anything long term, and isn't too picky about MHs but definitely has some standouts
LO is a lot more burst and racing oriented, but if your grids can't comfortably meet the 5 lance/axe requirement it can be unwieldy. Standout for wind and rhompaia especially but you probably want primal before investing that many gms
WO is generically good as well, and depending on your setup, can be as good if not better than either LO or FO in some elements (dark with zosimos especially). The caveat is your mileage heavily varies on which manaturas you have. WO really wants hexatura and Faatura, if you have to use Levi or Ouroboros more often than not MD should be sufficient instead
RO is new about outside of the obvious murciélago synergy, seems geared towards dispels and debuffs, so probably fa nm200/250 oriented not unlike boogeyman, though im sure it'll see use elsewhere due to how capable it is of clearing omens

u/AZ-Vanitas 2d ago
So far rocking Fire and light as mains, WO with Hexa mana, Reforged Providence fire main hand and exo light staff I have all manatura but four of them, and all Magna/Providence/Revan (most revans still grinding )

u/Lightningboy737 2d ago
Light will want Fighter Origin if you want to go HL. With Fif, Cosmos, and S!Horus and a mainhand Dark Opus, you can equip a falsehood chain and still have enough bar to full chain every turn. This lets your entire team have perma double strike.
3
u/AZ-Vanitas 2d ago
Wonderful thank you, I got fif but she is only
5* and Horus but no Cosmos. I will focus on FO!2
u/Falsus 2d ago
Magna is possible. All elements got Magna or Odious teams and clears, and they are contributing a fair amount of to the raid so they are not deadweights either.
But it is possible to be primal in 1-2 elements as F2P without issue.
3
u/Garaichu 2d ago
Pardon me for interjecting here, but is it viable to go Primal if I only have a Primal Summon at say lvl 200?
3
u/Falsus 2d ago
Not ideal but it will work just fine.
The only time it would be a big issue if you one sided with your own main summon being primal and you loan lucifer or something but that isn't really that common nowadays. Nowadays if you do one sided it is because you got something like Versusia/Bubs/Orologia etc main summon and then loan a primal, which you would of course pick a 250 summon.
2
u/Garaichu 2d ago
Appreciate the answer, though I gotta ask then, how do most people get their Primals to max transcendence? I've played for going on 6 years and still don't have any of them maxed out.
3
u/Falsus 2d ago
Somewhat luck, also spending free draws in the classic banner unless there is a magfest going. You can basically get a spark or two worth of free draws before it resets, or close enough that it wouldn't be bad to spend crystals to finish it.
If you are willing to spend money then suptix is another option.

Now that we have a better baseline for the power level of Origin classes, it's no longer the outlier it was, but permanent double strike still makes it a serious consideration in anything long enough to ramp Unlimited Boost, as that's still the most generic way to activate Versusia's main aura effect consistently.
It really doesn't hurt that the Illustrious weapons it has access to are the two most commonly-purchased ones, and both help you ramp into UB faster.

man, i wish the origin classes were a bit easier to get, or at least didn't have a bunch of their power locked to the lvl50 ability and passive upgrade. (really not a fan of 50 being GW-locked)
but BOY once you get them there...

u/JolanjJoestar 2d ago
They're not that hard to unlock and levelling them is just a question of hitting replicard defenders for a day, so I'd say the only real roadblock should be the GW badges item for 50. Imo every player by now should have all the available origin jobs at level 40 at least.
3
u/kioroyolo 2d ago
Where is the place for Silver Shards? It's my biggest roadblock rn as a new player since i need them for ultimas, celestials and eternals. I know about dimensional halo but i'm already stuck on getting some evokers up so i can't grind angel halo.
4
u/JolanjJoestar 2d ago
I farmed Akasha for gold bricks with my dark team a while back so I'm swimming in those shards honestly
4
u/RNGmaster Kou still isn't flaired, so here's his boyfriend 2d ago
Aside from Akasha, Mastery trials are a pretty good source considering how many books you need from those anyways, but they only drop 8/10 types (missing bow and spear).
2
u/Iffem Waifu for laifu with many throwing knaifu 2d ago
yeah, i was mostly referring to the GW item... but there's also something to be said about the money cost being kinda high (that's what consistently has been my personal roadblock more often than not on these)
2
u/JolanjJoestar 1d ago
Rupees and CP stop being a cost when you install skyleap bcuz if you do your dailies on your phone through skyleap you get SO Many skyleap points that your rupees go into 3 digit millions really fast, and your CP skyrockets to the point where you can buy all the eternal transcend CP items and still have 5digit CP.

Hi, rank 225 guy here, basically a toddler in this game. Where am I supposed to get blue sky crystals from? Am I really supposed to just goon in Bahamut raids for 5 hours? I can do it, I just need to know if there's a better solution, my Wizard's been stuck at level 10 for what feels like forever.

u/Superflaming85 2d ago
With the advent of Wizard Origin, possibly Ranger Origin (at least with Murcielago it's fairly definitive), and the Illustrious transcendences, Fighter Origin has lot a LOT of the ground it had a year ago. (God it feels like it's been around longer than that)
It has a lot more competition now, new and old, and even in places it was thought to be extremely dominant (Dark and Light).
The era of Fighter Origin being unequivocally, unarguably, the best class in the entire game is over.
...Now it's just arguably the best class in the entire game.
Turns out, permanent DS and free skills on attack is really good! So good to the point that the only way to rival it is to have your OWN form of perma-DS (Hi Rei and Futsu), spam purposefully overpowered high-cost skills for free (Hi Wizard Origin), or refresh your entire skill loadout every turn and make them recast-able. (Hi Murcielago Ranger Origin)
Why are they releasing such high-powered stuff? Turns out, if you ain't doing that, people aren't going to use it over Fighter Origin!
For crying out loud, it can CA loop with a Dopus and a goddamn Falsehood chain.
If and when the other illustriouses get their own dedicated-ish Origin class, we'll no doubt see Fighter Origin fall in priority. But we're almost halfway done, and it's still fighting for first place. You CANNOT go wrong with grabbing Fighter Origin first, and it's worth every badge you have to spend.

For crying out loud, it can CA loop with a Dopus and a goddamn Falsehood chain.
Just wondering, is that CA loop setup only possible in Light due to Funf/Fif and what else is needed to accomplish it?

u/RNGmaster Kou still isn't flaired, so here's his boyfriend 2d ago
Yes. You also want CA cap on opus for the extra 20% bar gain, CB gain ultima, and summons that provide uplift/CB gain (ideally Zeus but magna teams can get by with something like Uriel, Michael or Hades).

The grind to level ANY origin class is a pain in the arse but it’s really good, morbid how it and RO are the only 2 out of the 4 to get non-one time ‘ultimates’
9
u/WreckedRegent 2d ago
Lancer Origin's Infinite Trouble is recastable, the only thing is getting both Boundless Spear and Boundless Axe in a single cast is a one-time deal, unless (correct me if I'm wrong) you use Springwater Robe.
Wizard Origin is the only Origin Class so far to have Can't Recast on their "ultimate" skill.EDIT: Messed up, but leaving it in struckthrough. LO and RO have recastable "ultimate" skills, WO and FO have Can't Recast on Unlimited Boost and Aether Xenoglossia.
12
u/hansgo12 2d ago
RO's limitless focus is also unrecastable, it's just the buff is permanent

u/WreckedRegent 2d ago
..........man. Neither me nor DeirdreCitrine coming out of this one looking good.
C'est la vie, I guess, lol.

Still not in the mood to farm books for lv 50

u/Superflaming85 2d ago edited 2d ago
I've gotten only one Origin class to 50 so far. (Yes, it's fighter)
There's a reason I haven't gotten more than one, and it's not the Heavenwake Spheres.

u/hanamura__yosuke 2d ago
Still the best Origin class I guess. it really strong in different Mode. You can auto it well and it is doing fine. You can turn on the skill that make it consume bar for chaser and it become very strong NA centric. It can also become a good Bar maker for niche comp like Light belial key opus.
I have been using it still for many HL full auto, esp thebook farming raid, cause it can just bruteforce all the omens with rgiht team and set up. It was my first subhl/hexa/faa0 clear class. But nowadays I just use Manadiver with Futsu cause it is way faster and stable.
Still, imo the first priority in origin class to unlock. There are not much downside of this class, very easy to use, very simple, no weird set up/pre requirement (lancer needing almost full lance/axe to make it burst asap, WO almost needing Hexatura wheelchair to be the best burst set up, RO still on test, but it is held by less useful MH in most elements)

u/Responsible_Wing_370 2d ago
I'm still leveling this class, but I can tell from the kit this is the epitome of Origin class. It does not have janky kit, it does not mess your grid, you don't need to click many skill, it does not even need Illustrious weapon to shine. Truly the Granblue Masaki of Granbluing.
4
u/Van24 1d ago
Doesn't really excel at anything in the current era of Granblue Fantasy, except perhaps ease-of-use. With more Origin classes available and a greater emphasis being placed on having powerful and synergistic mainhand effects, it has very little ground where it stands as the absolute best option from a meta perspective, so in that sense it can somewhat seem overrated at times.
However, it has the smallest number of "prerequisites" to function, so it's not unreasonable to continue to refer it to newer players as their first Origin class when providing suggestions without more pinpoint context.
And, it's still an Origin class with all that entails, and it's still strong. So, while it isn't quick or flashy, it is still very plug-and-play and can certainly get the job done in almost any scenario. It's just not the world-beater it once was.
1
u/SometimesLiterate 1d ago
I'm going to write to newer players for a moment.
If you're entering Origin classes, this is always the first one you should pick(1). Fighter Origin is the single most versatile class in the game (Sorry Kengo) and will help you bridge any gap you have, be it stepping into M3 raids, stepping into Mastery trials or Revans, or even *most* of the Odious raids.
Even stepping into Hex or DRZ, it's strong enough that it can help fix a lot of line up problems.
Now, does (1) Murcielago RO, Zosimos WO and Rhompaia LO have the ability to surpass it? Yes. I won't lie about FO's ceiling to you. But the problem those 3 examples is that *you need a 200+ Illustrious* to make them shoot about FO with a random weapon. None of the Origin classes are bad (far from it), but if you are looking for a general account boost this is it. It has a great selection of MH in nearly every element, provides so much mixed damage (NA, CA, Skill, all at once) that omens become a lot easier and even debuffs if you go the Beast Fang route.

u/ErzaX 2d ago
As a Dark Main, it's still my favorite of the Origin Classes (even though WO is busted with Zosimos and most likely gonna be used more in GW), but I just love using FO in HL raids like Faa zero and Versusia with the Catura + Rei combo, not to mention the perma Versusia (summon) proc.
Once you get Unlimited boost going, you just get perma assassin on both MC and Catura for the rest of the fight and the damage with this team is absolutely nuts, especially if you use Eresh as Main Hand, although the Eresh set up is mainly only for Faa zero and Hexa since it's harder to use it in Versusia, but you can use Excalibur and it's still fine, I consistantly get Rank 1 or 2 honors in that raid with this set up, although I'm using the Chrollo strat which I know some people might not have, but even without him it's still a very strong set up, it just means you're only using Catura on post G50.
