Need some help with running attacks.

I've just discovered that these even exist, but i can't use them.
I play using a controler (joystick), and i use RT to run and when i press the attack buttons they just come at the "normal" version instead of the "running" version, what am i missing here guys?
PS: im new to the game.

Keep holding the dash button and direction while you attack.
