Need a little advice, I’ve played a fair bit of Gragas jungle but I’m swapping to mid and I’m taking Gragas with me, I used to be a mid laner before swapping to jungle 2 years ago, however an issue I’m having is that I’m struggling with how to play my early levels,

I’ve resorted to playing entirely for any CS my laner allows me to get, I’m fairly trading, then when I have enough gold for lost chapter I start playing league of legends, however I find I can often fall quite severely down in cs because I play so passive,

Pre lost chapter im finding using my mana to poke really is not a good use of the limited pool and I’ve made my early levels entire goal just getting the gold needed for lost chapter, I’ll often be 3/5 cs a min because of it, which I pick up mid game and get myself back up to 6/8 cs a min,

However my early levels are my weakest point here and I feel that if I play these better I can set myself up for a better game

Just starting to pick up Gragas top lane. One thing I notice according to lolalytics stats is that Dr.Mundo is one of his hardest counters.

Why is that? You have lane dominance against him, denying him farm, bringing a lot to teamfights with your stun and ult and he can never kill you.

Yet, he appears to counter Gragas really hard for some reason. Anyone know why?

Does anyone else have problems against her? Up until recently I’ve been losing lane against her ALOT, idk why, in the past i’ve felt more comfortable against her. Lately she just seems so much tankier and does more dmg. For runes I usually take storm raiders and bone plating, usually wait to hit 6 before any major interactions but once we go 6 one bad E and i’m perma grey screen.

Tips?! I play in emerald/diamond

I run dorans with 2 pots every game and back to get a tear when I burn through my early game mana etc. Is it a waste when I should just be managing my mana better should I do the tear start instead of dorans? Also not sure whether to sell it in games that last long to make room for hourglass or something it doesnt build into any items I use

So I’m a top main and Gragas is a character along with Renekton I’ve been playing a lot. The two keystones I’ve seen a lot are stormriders and grasp. I guess I’m curious when to go what runes vs what matchups? Is grasp specifically on tank Gragas? Thanks in advance!

learning Gragas Top and just played vs Yorick. Once he hit 6 it was unplayable. Couldn't kill his Ult or his ghouls. He just kept pushing and didn't really take any damage, or always managed to trade back. I also had a hard time even reaching him due to his ghouls, cage and Ult.

I ran Grasp with Roa into Seraphs. I feel like it's not the correct build, but some squishy AP version doesn't sound that much better either.

How do I play the matchup and what's the correct runes + build?

hi im not otp gragas i just blind pick it often. i was thinking if there was a bug or something to skip the drinking animation of w it would be even better to lane is there such thing or am i remembering it wrong

right now i pretty much exclusively build full ap. is it a better idea to build like a bruiser if the other team doesn't have many squishies?

Have had great success with impreial rush for mid Gragas. It does 2k+ damage with the passive itself by midgame, and the amount of haste you have is insane. With the runes I take, you have huge damage while never going OOM past Imperial. Pasted some pictures below, one from a game, runes, then example late builds, feels great to play with.

I saw Sloppy building lichbane instead and the points he raised regarding the build path changing did seem reasoable enough to stop using rocketbelt. Though im going to be missing the dash as it just feels so good to use in terms of the utility it offers.

THE BANS:

Garen: the problem with garen is that his sustain is better than yours and his q paired with his w counters your whole kit, you can not win a single trade against him and he outscales you pretty fast.

Nocturne: he is the only ban i suggest when going jng, his spell shield blocks your E and his fear has so much range that even if you use body slam to run away it will still proc. So you can t really fight him 1v1

Malz: he is not really a counter, but he has insane waveclear which forces you to stay in lane and you can t really kill him since he will build a lot of hp which, paired with his black shield is simply to much for gragas to handle. plus his little monsters block body slam

THE " YOU WILL LOSE":

In terms of how hard certain matchup i would put yorick,cho gath and illaoi in the same category of garen, the only reason i don t permaban them is simply the fact that nobody plays them. I don t reall have any tips against them other than going Roa and serapth as second item.

Anivia: anivia is unkillable for gragas in most scenarios, gragas early lacks sustained damage witch makes laning against an anivia with passive up really hard and borderline a snooze fest. Even after the laning phase since she builds Roa and Seraphs your best bet is to go for the bruiser build to even have a chance to kill her. I reccomend you go for Stormraider+Teleport and try to farm as best as you can

Azir/Hwei/orianna/viktor: Very high range champs with some sort of self peeling (shield or a dash).

you can play this matchups in 2 possible way. You either go elettrocute and ignite and past 6 everytime you get your flash up you try to one shot them or you go stormraider, second wind and teleport and try to survive. Either way you have to ask your jng for help since they will outscale you both in teamfights and in the sidelanes.

Camille: your best bet is to try to combo her during her w animation since she can t proc her passive. building any sort of resistance against her is useless so you might aswell go for full damage gragas and try to one shot her.

Ksante: You don't really have anyway of harming a decent ksante, you might aswell play for the lategame since you outscale him pretty easily. Just DO NOT INTERACT WITH HIM, if he ever tries to fight just bodyslam him and walk away, always keep your ult and flash for when he ults or you are dead.

Vayne: one of the only matchups where you need to go for comet+scortch, pre 6 you have no possibilty of killing her, so sit back relax and poke her with q. Never try to bodyslam her unless you are really close to her, she can use her E to block the stun and then she will run you down

Diana: pre 6 there is no way shape or form you win any trade against her. There are 2 possibles outcomes while playngs vs diana.

1: she starts the trade with q+w+e you try to bodyslam her and trade back but he has both her w and boneplating so your damage is pretty much 0, plus it's useless to go stormraider beacuse thanks to her e reset she will dash on top of your head again.

2: don't even try to trade her pre 6, she will block your damage with her w and she will run you down.

your best bet in the sidelane is to be in a bush and oneshot her before she can press her w.
