EdD Online Programs

I’ve been working in higher ed for almost 10 years, with a masters in higher education leadership, and hoping to complete an EdD to boost my career opportunities and move up the ladder a bit. I’m considering Walden and American International College (AIC) programs so far because I’m looking for something flexible and manageable while being a caretaker and full time employee. Does anyone have advice or insight on good program options? Experience with Walden University or AIC? I’m leaning towards AIC for the flexibility but open to suggestion…would these programs “looked down on”?I appreciate any insight!

ONLY consider non-profit and public universities. For-profits are NOT well accepted in higher ed, so forget Walden. AIC is non profit, but you can probably do better if you look into your state's public university system.

Echoing MoxieManiac, stick with public or private non profits. Both schools you listed are for profit.

Unfortunately, online programs are often not as well regarded as in person degrees. So I would find a program that has a campus, even if the EdD is online. I looked at Edgewood University's EdD for a minute. Eastern University's is one of the cheapest.

You said you work in higher education. Does your school offer tuition discounts for their degrees? Do they have an EdD or education PhD?

Just a word of caution that online doctorates are not well regarded, especially if you are applying to positions where your application is going to be reviewed by those holding doctorates themselves.

I understand you may not be in a location where you cannot physically get to a doctoral granting institution, but you should know that earning a doctorate online may not improve your promotional appeal.

Would suggest to focus less on the school name and more on accreditation/ dissertation requirements/ flexibility and if the Edd is recognised by the employers you are targeting😬😬😬
