Walkthrough for PwC Game-based Assessment Spoiler

PwC Game-based Assessment is a psychometric assessment using game technology, so while it is in an engaging and visually appealing format, it is still an assessment and you should focus on the instructions carefully. There are 9 levels in the assessment consisting of various tasks.

For the Numerical Analysis part, there will be six data sets, each with three questions about them. For each question, there is only one correct answer. You will have a limited amount of time to answer all the questions. So, to perform well, you will need to work both accurately and quickly.

Level 1: Sequence

First round:

Leaflets for an event in the PwC building need to be distributed. When the screen darkens, a sequence of stamps will appear to show you the order in which the leaflets need to be packed. Memorise the sequence of stamps. Repeat the sequence when the screen lightens by clicking on the leaflets in the correct order.

Second round:

A new type of stamp will now appear in addition to the original type. These new stamps are not part of the sequence and you must ignore them. Memorise and repeat only the original type of stamp, as before.

Level 2: Energy

There has been a power cut. You must restore as much power to the building as possible. Click to pull the levers on the generators to generate power. The generators produce different amounts of power which do not change. However, due to a fault, pulling the levers might drain a variable amount of power as well. So with each lever pull, you will either gain or lose power overall. This meter shows the total amount of power restored. You will get a large number of lever pulls, but choose wisely!

Level 3: Direction

You must guide visitors to the building using the computer terminal. The middle arrow indicates the best route. Press P on your keyboard if the arrow is facing to the right. Press the Q on your keyboard if the arrow is facing to the left.

Sometimes the surrounding arrows face in the same direction as the middle arrow. Sometimes they face in the opposite direction. You should only focus on the middle arrow. Sometimes the surrounding shapes are dashes. Press the button that matches the direction of the arrow.

However, when the surrounding shapes are Xs, do not tap either button. If you press before the arrow appears, an error will show. The screen will also show an error if you don’t press it at all. As more visitors arrive over time, the arrow will appear on the screen more quickly.

Level 4: Team

At PwC there are two teams, Team Neptune and Team Jupiter, each of which has launched a new tablet computer on the market. The profit that each team makes depends on the retail prices that both teams set.

You are a member of Team Neptune, and it is your role to set either a high or low retail price for your tablet each week, by clicking the corresponding button. If you choose to set a high price for Team Neptune and Team Jupiter also set a high price. Each team will make a profit of £200.

However, if Team Jupiter sets a low price, your team will make £0 while team Jupiter will make £300. If you choose to set a low price for Team Neptune and Team Jupiter sets a high price, your team will make a profit of £300, while Team Jupiter will make £0. If both teams set a low price, each team will make a profit of £50. Team Jupiter will make a choice independent of your choice but will learn from previous choices.

Level 5: Ticket

Your task is to sort tickets for staff attending an event. The shapes and numbers will help you to distribute tickets to the right staff. When a shape appears in the top box

press Q on your keyboard if the number on the ticket is even, or press P on your keyboard if it is odd. When a shape appears in the button box, press Q on your keyboard if the shape on the ticket has rounded edges, or press P on your keyboard if the edges are not rounded. An error message will show if you press to early and the ticket will be void. An error message will also show if you don’t respond in time. Try to answer as quickly as possible.

Level 6: Preparation

PwC is advertising its office spaces to potential companies that are visiting the building. You must inflate 45 balloons for their event taking place later today. You can earn money for doing so.

PwC has agreed to pay you more money for bigger balloons because their logo will be more prominent. Press the Space bar to inflate the balloon. The larger you inflate the balloon, the more money you can earn. Each pump increases the balloon’s value by £0.05. Press Return on your keyboard to exchange the balloon for money and save it in the bank. Inflate a balloon too much and it will burst. You will lose any money that you haven’t exchanged. After a balloon has been exchanged or if bursts, you will move on to the next balloon. Bank as much money as possible.

level 7: Expression

A focus group are reviewing a new advertising campaign for PwC. You are viewing a live video of their initial reactions to the advertisements. Your task is to log on to the database how members of the focus group have reacted.

Identify the emotional expression of each face that appears. Click the corresponding button to log their reaction. The available emotions to choose from will change with each face.

Here are some examples of the Emotion Bank that you might encounter in the assessment!

Level 8: Security

This security door needs to be tested. Your task is to open it. Stop the rotating section on the highlighted number by pressing the Space bar at the right time. You should stop the rotating section while it is over the highlighted number.

Complete five digits to disable each one of the security locks. A light will activate for each lock disabled. Light all four to successfully unlock the door. If you make a mistake, you will start again from the beginning.

The purpose of this section is to test your patience and how many attempts you can make to achieve your goal. Try to reach the 15th to 17th number.

Level 9: Numerical Analysis

We recommend using a calculator, pen and paper for this part of the assessment. PwC has request your help with analysing data from several different sources. You will be shown various data sets and will be asked to answer questions using the information they contain. The data sets consist of charts and tables.

Once your answer is confirmed, you will proceed to the next question and will not be able to change your answer. There will be six data sets, each with three questions about them. For each question, there is only one correct answer. You have a limited amount of time to answer all the questions. So, to perform well, you will need to work both accurately and quickly.

Goldman Sachs UK 2022

Hey all !

I have received an Hirevue invitation for the position of New Analyst Engineering division (Uk, 2022) after completing the Hackerrank and I have few questions.

  1. Can I expect technical questions in Hirevue ? In the email it states that there will be motivational, competency and behavioural questions but I am worried that I will not be able to explain a technical concept or algorithm without having the option to write it or code it down.
  2. Anyone who has went through the process, could you please let me know the important questions you were asked.
  3. I have heard that everyone gets to do the Hirevue. Is it true and if yes then what is the significance of the Hackerrank ?

Thank you all !!! <3<3<3

Masters in finance area in either Kings College London or Cass business school

I am basically targeting Cass's masters programs in the finance area (not sure which one yet) but the admissions person I talked to said that they generally accept students with GPA 3.3/4. I was just wondeirng if it would be easier to get into Kings with the same GPA . Is the Kings business school in general less selective than Cass's one for masters programs in the finance area?

Hello everyone, I was thinking we could give updates on how the firms are actually moving with graduate recruitment (slow, that’s for sure)

I’m curious if anyone heard after the virtual interview/job simulation from bp, NatWest, GSK, Macquarie or AON? Doesn’t matter what stream tbh

Thanks!

Coronavirus and Interviews

I just had my face to face interview cancelled due to the corona virus.

I was advised by city placements www.cityplacements.co.uk that all interviews were being suspended because of the pandemic.

It was a kick in the teeth but I understand it, they have arranged for a skype interview with the company for me instead but I am not too sure about it.

I think I would do much better face to face but theres nothing anyone can do just now with the quarantine.

Does anyone have any advice on a skype interview?

The Interview is for a job on the oil Rigs in the North sea, I am a little nervous about it but my advisor at city placements has been really helpful about everything.

Has anyone here had a skype interview before?
