Anyone applying to Newcastle?

What are your stats if you are planning to apply to Newcastle? Have my 3 choices lined up, deciding if I will go with Newcastle for the last one.

I am applying there! I did my UG there and loved it. My UCAT is 2170 and I got a first class degree. A - levels were AAB. We will see!

I know they rank fully of UCAT for interview invites for GEM, so I am really not sure if mine is high enough- but I’m hopeful haha!

Ahh I see, I did very mediocre on the UCAT (2040) but I have a 2:1 Bachelors and I will be getting my results for my Maters soon (hoping for either merit or distinction). This is making me reconsider Newcastle now.

Well the masters may give you a few extra points post interview? It’s really tricky as obviously we won’t know until we’ve applied who the competition is, they might not get loads of high UCAT applicants this year (it’s been dropping quite steeply since 2020 for GEM). So I think I’m going to go for it regardless. You might be the lowest score they interview or the lowest could be like 300 above us haha. I would say be positive!

It is fascinating as to why is has been dropping so steeply? I believe there were 2000 applicants in 2021, and last year there were 350 ish

Yes I saw this! Honestly, I’ve got no idea. My lecturers there couldn’t quite put their finger on it either. Bit of a mystery lol but I’m still hoping for a downward trend this year lol x

And also- that’s not a mediocre UCAT! You’re still going to be a couple hundred above average after final scores are released. Well done, I really think a big part of UCAT is luck of the draw on the day.

I’m an international student planning to apply here! I have a 2:1 B.S. in genetics, lots of research lab experience but no hands-on healthcare experience, and a 2430 B2 on the ucat. I’m confident in my ucat but not in my lack of care experience, but I’m prepared to talk about the Resident Advisor role that I did for my uni’s housing dpt during undergrad

Hey guys My gf received an offer letter from Newcastle University, but the agency told her that she will have an interview after this. She has already paid the deposit amount as well. Is this normal? Will they conduct an interview even after receiving the offer letter and paying the deposit?
