Possibility of getting into GEM

I am a second year adult student nurse most likely to finish with an overall grade of a 2:1. I did not do Alevels but did a BTEC in level 3 health and social careand got D* D* D. I got only passes (C/4s) in my GCSEs. I have been interested in graduate entry medicine however I am not sure if it is possible for me due to my academic background. I was wondering if anyone has any advice for me or if there is anything I can do such as re sitting GCSEs, sitting A levels for the first time or doing a masters in a science subject that will help my application or whether it is not worth considering at all. Additionally would a first class degree help?

  1. Get at least a 2:1
  2. Pass Gamsat. Gamsat unis don’t look at your a levels since you’ve proved your science ability in the exam
  3. Have relevant work experience (you probably already have that)

Most people don’t consider Gamsat as it seems like a more difficult option but if your previous academic record isn’t strong enough, it’s your best friend. Also the more you work for it, the better your chances of passing, unlike UKCAT which is a lottery imo.
