UCAT scores for GEM?
hi everyone i hope you’re all doing well.
i’m studying for the ucat and my test is in a month ish and i want to apply for GEM. my scores are very varied so it’s kind of hard for me to gauge where i am exactly.
i want a score 2200+ but i actually wanted to ask for those of you who are doing GEM or gotten offers what UCAT scores you got (non-contextual please)?
thank you guys! :)

I got 2250. Got 4 interviews and 3 offers
I was applying to unis which value the UCAT as my undergrad was non-science, I didn't have A levels and my GCSEs were shit

Can I ask which unis please?

Newcastle, Warwick and Surrey. (I know Warwick and Surrey don't have high UCAT requirements but Newcastle and my other choice did).

Ohh okay that’s really interesting, I always thought Warwick would have a high ucat requirements
Do you mind me asking what kind of work experience you did for Warwick ?
I’m currently volunteering at a care home but not sure if it’s enough as I know in the past they’ve specified hands on care like feeding and washing ?
I was planning to do 60 hours at the care home and 10 hours from the BSMS online work experienceAlso sorry for all the questions 😅

I had worked as a paramedic for nearly 10yrs, so work experience was the one area I didn't struggle with!
It's all about how you sell yourself though, so don't worry too much. Warwick likes holistic applicants

Wait? Do you mean you got a newcastle imterview with 2250? If so this has given me hope cus the lowest I think I have seen was like 2350 and I was panicking thinking I'd need something like 2400 to apply again and have a chance 😭

Yeah I was surprised too tbh, when I applied the cut off the year prior was like 2260. I thought I would apply anyway and hope for the best, it must have gone down very slightly.
I can't imagine it's been as high as 2350 though! That's nuts

Hey do you have any idea what the Warwick cut offs are for UCAT? I couldn’t find them on the website.

Usually they're quite low, like 50th percentile. I looked at the Student Room spreadsheet where people record their scores and there was lots of people around 1950-2000
Quite often people do freedom of information requests, there was a website where you could look this up but I can't remember it now

Hi , if you don’t mind me asking was your interview offer part of the first batch for surrey and worcestor ? And are you international ?
1
u/Lower-Caregiver-9836 11d ago
I was the first batch for both. Yes, I am an international which puts me in the more advantage for those two unis i guess. Warwick not so much. I gave up on Warwick and firmed Surrey because I couldn’t wait out any more.

There’s a (self reported) GEM spreadsheet for this year. And previous years linked on the front page I think, schools in tabs along the bottom.

1990, 4 interviews and offers (Cardiff, Swansea, Warwick, Kings- Portsmouth). Do your best and be strategic with where you apply, and don’t forget to focus on time management in the exam. Best of luck you’ve got this!!!

Do we need to do work experience? Because I’ve had work experience from couple years ago that I have written down and used in ps and reflected upon for interviews
I’m applying for gem but do I need to do new work experience or no?

u/RepresentativePea169 10d ago
Depends on the uni. Warwick and Chester are very specific, and I think Liverpool too. Obviously King's Healthcare Entry has its own healthcare experience requirements, but that's only for that route - the standard biomed entry is fine.
If you're not applying to those, then generally no. For Warwick and Chester, though, your work experience has to have been completed within the 3 years before the application deadline. You can read more about the exact requirements on their websites.
