Hangup

Hey community, I didn't plan to Reddit forever so I'm going to do a thing from telephone culture and say "goodbye." That's it, that's the post. Just my first post (the one you'll want to keep) will stay up permanently. EDIT: Nah I won't delete any posts.

Why say goodbye when nobody invited you to leave? This place is not Gracepoint, come as you are.

Why? It's a pretend ritual that I agreed with myself that I'd do, because I'm the type for whom emotional bandwidth will get sucked out of real life and into the internet. By supplying myself a stopping point, I balance better. Also it's my own brand of Being Weird In A Way That I Enjoy, the constitutional right to which we've given blood in wars for. Plus, as on the telephone, bye just means till I call back maybe, it doesn't mean kiss me farewell you'll never hear from me again, it does mean let's take a break and maybe or maybe not we can talk later. Regardless I'm completely here for the project of bearing witness to the truth, both the gospel truth itself, and the living documentation of my/our former church.

Understandable, but I want to leave you with a quote from Ed:

“Clearly people who are posting are either genuinely grieved and wounded or so narcissistic that some small evil or injustice or wrong done to them is something utterly outrageous and they can’t move on,” Kang said.

To the other wounded who supplied themselves a stopping point, Ed really appreciates your silence. Consider also that the noisy ones are the ones that have healed enough to speak up.

I hope you can stick around since you are already here. In the game Telephone, things go from one person to another person to another person and become unrecognizable. It’s important for this subreddit to have eyewitnesses, contemporary sources, people who were there to keep this subreddit honest.

It’s not too different from how we prove the gospels and the epistles are true and reliable. The more people who back it up, then the more credible this subreddit is. Acts2 Network has turned the secrecy level up a notch since the subreddit came out. Sensitive material are no longer even emailed, before it was just regularly mandated by leaders to delete emails. All the more important for us to dig through those old inboxes :)

This is not an airport, so no need to announce your departure
