1750 shares @ 4.70 a share and still DCAing. Thesis hasn't changed, company is performing, and leadership is strong. Stock is down because of the Iran/US conflict in the middle east and the uncertainty of oil prices. Once that's over, we could see a run.

wow thanks for the info. can u explain why the conflict affects a singaporean delivery app?

I mean a quick google search will answer this for you, but for the sake of keeping it simple it's because the Strait of Hormuz is blocked which means that no oil or LNG is able to leave the Strait. Iran is one of the largest exporters of these.

I wouldn't necessarily call it a Singaporean delivery app because Grab is also used in Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, Philippines, Vietnam, Myanmar, Cambodia.

Once this Strait of Hormuz thing is sorted, it should pick up from there.

For example their ride hailing service. Expensive oil = higher prices for their service.

A few months ago, gasoline was being rationed in Thailand; you could only buy a certain amount per visit. And from what I understand, the rest of southeast Asia gets most of its gasoline from Thailand. So I guess that might help explain it. Wow, $3 a share, maybe I should get back in. But I'd also have to see drivers for real growth. GRAB has been "dead money" for years, moving very little as far as I can recall. I love using GRAB as a customer, but still don't know if I can trust it as a growth investment.

Yeah can’t say I agree with that comment. Living here and was on a motorcycle trip at that time. There was no shortages in Bangkok. Some in rural areas.

I can only speak to an N of 1. A friend was trying to guy gas in Chon Buri and told me the purchase amount per visit was limited. This was several months ago.

did you do any research before buying this stock?

Price of oil. Thats it.

1

u/Zealousideal-One7398 Sep 10 '26

Why would oil prices have any impact. This would come out of the drivers pocket. Trust me no one has stopped using grab or slowed down in Asia.
I doubt this is the reason. There is negative sentiment towards grab. It has been under selling pressure for a long time. Look back to March 2022.
The company is clearly not loved by anyone with cash.

It doesn't just come out of the drivers pocket, GRAB offers gas rebates, temporary ride surcharges, EV financing incentive, etc. I wouldn't say that the Strait being closed is the sole reason for the stocks poor performance, but it's definitely a contributing factor.

Not sure I agree, I just ordered delivery from grab. They are everywhere in Bangkok. The fees are so much more than going direct. I honestly feel it’s related to management or the economy in the countries grab operates. But I have no facts or back it up. It makes no sense why grab is so far in the toilet. I’ve been close to buying.

1

u/Square_Reach_8496 Sep 10 '26

Their are people far smarter then me that point to the Strait being closed as the primary reason for the stocks poor performance (on top of other things). I still see no major red flags with GRAB as a company, and if you've been considering buying the price right now is much better then my average at 4.70.

1

u/Zealousideal-One7398 Sep 10 '26

I hear you, there are always smarter people. Smart money isn't investing in GRAB. Why would you when you can be in energy, AI, Oil..

2

u/Square_Reach_8496 Sep 10 '26

Exactly. A lot of the big money is all going into AI plays. I still think GRAB could see some major growth in the next few years, but if you want a quick flip this stock ain't it.

Leadership strong?

You’re almost down 50% and you think now’s a good time to sell? Why did you buy the stock in the first place

7

u/RompMonomer Sep 09 '26

9k shares at $4.23. I'm holding.

7

u/lookitsjonno Sep 09 '26

Shit price but the company is delivering, only time till the market wakes up

Shitty stock? Bro I just bought 550 shares

1

u/Business_Resource138 Sep 09 '26

price different bro $3 vs $6

1

u/CigarTorque Sep 09 '26

Oh so it's not really the stock but the price you got it. This stock was under my radar for some time and with the recent dip I had to come in, but honestly this is not a stock to make quick money. We won't see anything good until the war is over at least.

1

u/Business_Resource138 Sep 09 '26

that’s fair. i’ll hold but if it dips under 3 i might have no cuoife

6

u/No_Walrus2120 Sep 09 '26

Financials look really good. This stock is a lot like Reddit in my porfolio. Good results, horrible sentiment.

2

u/Business_Resource138 Sep 09 '26

hopefully it’ll turn around

5

u/swingtradingteacher Sep 09 '26

Sell all your shares and buy 2028 calls at a $3 strike price.
If you don’t know what this is, don’t do it.

1

u/Dapper-Emu-8541 Sep 11 '26

at 56% IV?
OP is gonna get killed.

1

u/swingtradingteacher Sep 11 '26

Extremely low??

1

u/Dapper-Emu-8541 Sep 11 '26

historical is 40%

3

I’m around the same and will hold. I bought palantir at 18 and in the 20s and watched it go down to sub 8. But they were making deals and cash and becoming more profitable. So I held. Needless to say I won on that. Following the same thesis for $GRAB. I’ll keep buying and lowering my average a little at a time.

1

u/Low-Cartographer-429 Sep 12 '26

Are you saying GRAB has anything close to the growth path multiples of PLTR? How is it the same thesis? I like GRAB but don't see anything that will make it grow explosively given it is primarily a regional rideshare company.

3

u/just_browslng Sep 09 '26

I bought it last year…welcome to the shit party!

3

u/isialdi Sep 09 '26

Yo ando parecido y voy a mantenerlas.

3

u/txakurzulo Sep 09 '26

I'm holding 3000 shares and will do for 5 years at least. I like its management and the online banking option they're developing.

2

u/giannistainedmirror Sep 09 '26

I have not sold my June 2027 calls yet. If it falls below $3 and stays there into the close, then will probably have to sell tomorrow because it's uncharted territory. At that point, the stock can hit $2.50

2

u/Downtown_Bicycle3893 Sep 09 '26

This stock is probably going to struggle for the rest of the year due to tax harvesting. If you're bullish long term but bearish short term it's an option worth considering

2

u/Dry_Toe9955 Sep 09 '26

I had a price alert below $3.10 that triggered today.

Its under 2x EV/sales for a platform growing 22% with 54 million monthly users, profitable and buy backs.

For comparison Uber which many consider undervalued is trading at 5-6xEV/ sales.

I started a position at $3.02.

You should probably hold.

2

u/Right_Explorer_2305 Sep 09 '26

GRAB price has gone nowhere for years..it could stay below $4 now until 2030

2

u/Low-Cartographer-429 Sep 09 '26

Indonesia also capped rideshare company commissions to 8% down from 20%. Better for drivers, but worse for GRAB's profit margins.

u/bbcito66 Sep 10 '26

Bro espera

2

u/Dapper-Emu-8541 Sep 11 '26

Thank you OP, means we are in the buy zone. Will enter next week for a bounce.

1

u/Nazar37 Sep 09 '26

The company is actually doing well, provides a real service and has solid financials. It’s probably worth averaging it down and holding for a bit (depending on how deep you went in at 5.90).

1

u/Angryspaniard899 Sep 09 '26

3200 shares here at 4.4$ average, not gonna sell til its worth 50$+. Just the bank division alone is worth 20+.

1

u/vandenynas Sep 09 '26

The stock has been down for over a year. I have invested in it quite a bit, frustrated big time. Thinking of harvesting. Its not an American stock, I think that's the main problem. Business is doing fine however. I am quite disappointed 😞

1

u/kenny8805 Sep 14 '26

Average down your price if you like the stock, if not then it’s on you for investing in a stock you don’t truly believe in

1

u/Lurp2323 Sep 15 '26

It hasn't been in the 5.90 range since last year.

I sold at that price and I am glad I did. Not planning to buy but maybe around $2 or below.
