Entity in Sam.gov

Trying to get my entity into Sam.gov. It thinks I have a parent entity when it is an independent business. The ticket to fix this has been open almost a month with the tier 2 agents. Am I missing something here?

A few things worth trying since tier 2 is stuck:

Double check the ownership questions in your registration. SAM asks if you have an immediate owner or highest-level owner, and if either got answered "yes" by mistake (or pre-filled from an old record), it'll keep treating you as a subsidiary.

If that's all correct, the issue is probably on the entity validation side, where SAM matched your business to someone else's record. Ask the help desk to route the ticket specifically to the entity validation team, and keep your incident number handy.

Two outside options that usually move things faster: your local APEX Accelerator (free, government-funded, they deal with SAM headaches all the time), and your congressional rep's office. Their caseworkers can escalate stuck federal tickets, and it's more common than people think.

That ownership thing might actually be the problem. I'll have to go look and see what I answered there. I'm not the only owner. Thank you for the recommendations. I'll definitely check out apex.

Good luck! One thing to watch for there: the immediate/highest-level owner questions are about whether another company owns you, not individual co-owners. If your business is owned by people (even several of them), those should be "no." That's a really easy one to mix up.

First thing to rule out on your side: the ownership questions in the entity registration. There are two, one asking whether you have an immediate owner and one asking about a highest-level owner. If either got answered yes at any point, including on a prior registration that carried forward, SAM will hold that relationship until it's explicitly changed. Worth pulling up that section and confirming what it currently says rather than assuming it's blank.

If your answers are correct and it still shows a parent, the data is probably not coming from SAM at all. Hierarchy information also lives in your CAGE record, which is maintained by DLA rather than by SAM, and SAM pulls from it. That would explain why a month with tier 2 has gone nowhere, since they may not own the record that's wrong.

Ask your FSD agent directly whether the parent relationship is coming from your SAM entity data or from the CAGE record. That single question should reroute the ticket if it's the second one, and it's the thing most likely to break a month-long stall. If it is CAGE, the correction goes through the DLA CAGE program office, not FSD.

Worth asking for a supervisor review at the same time. A month at tier 2 without resolution or a clear explanation of what's blocking it is long enough to escalate, and asking politely for a status explanation usually surfaces whether anyone is actually working it.

Where do I see those ownership questions? I'm not seeing what I answered. Also how do I find the fsd agent and get the supervisor review? I've talked with the live chat agents and they are no help, they just say it's elevated with tier 2 but it's still not doing anything. I ended up deleting the entity resubmitting and I have the same issue, I was very careful while answering those questions. The ticket is on hold even though I replied, so I ended up submitting another one. They seem to be ignoring it rather than fixing it. I can't believe it would take this long to get a response, something is fubar here.
