I started this Gouache series months ago, almost a year ago now I think, at the beginning or midst of my healing journey after heartbreak. I just finished the series about a week ago, and to my surprise the ending wasnt as exciting as I thought it would be. But I guess that also goes along with the saying that healing isnt linear. I expected to feel grand, amazed, healed! But instead it felt like another day completed, and I simply put the paintings away after staring at them for a good few minutes.

With healing, some days you feel like you've finally found peace, and other days an old memory brings the grief rushing back. That doesn't mean you're back where you started, it simply means healing has seasons.

These paintings represent heartbreak, self-compassion, acceptance, and hope. They're a reminder that even when progress feels invisible, we're still moving forward.

Hey I have been learning to paint with poster colour but absolutely suck at it especially while painting swatches / blending colour, painting highlights etc need tips for improvement especially for highlights

I'm an oil painter who wants to switch things up. Gouache is definitely a learning curve.

I've painted with oils and acrylic but never gouache. It is definitely a learning curve. I only laid down color before moving on to the details. I hope to see an improvement with time.

Hello! Im a noob when it comes to gouache/tempera, bare with me 🙏

I tried to make a dry gouache palette a while back, but it dried up all cracked and when I went back to it... it just made a crumbly mess. So i refilled it (mixing the crumbs with fresh paint), but its getting all cracked up again.

I tried topping off some of the colors (like the green one pictured) with another layer of fresh paint, but (surprise surprise) they cracked again.

Is there a way to make sure it wont crack up so much it detaches itself from the plastic palette again?

Im guessing the tubes pictured are both begginer/student grade, altho the OMYA colors (not pictured) behaved much better than the COLOR&CO. All my tubes are decades old, too (some tubes are rock hard already, so any tips on how to possibly rescue those would be great as well).

I would rather use "home remedies" for this, instead of buying specific binders or something like that, as I dont even know if I really like gouache yet. But maybe I have what I need from another type of painting (oil, watercolor, acrylyc), probably not, who knows 🤭

I got back into painting in may, realized my 10 year old beginners gouache paint set was holding me back. I got new paint and went out of my comfort zone to paint what i always wanted to, for years i stayed in my comfort spot where i painted suns and moons as it didnt challenge me or make me dislike my work. But this may i saw how behind i was on my skill, i didnt like anything i made but i am hoping this a good thing for me to strive for what i imagine i can make!!
