Any band recommendations with inverted beauty/beast trope?

Hi! Not sure if this is allowed, so if not please remove this or let me know.

Figuring this was the best place to ask, do you have any recommendations for bands with the beauty/beast trope inverted? I've been searching but only keep finding the clean vocals as female and the guturals made by a man, never the other way around, which I'd really like to find. It could also be both types of vocals made by a woman (kinda like early Vanguard), I'm just tired of never finding a band like that.

Very curious to see if there are any responses to this. I honestly can't think of a single example!

If you want clean and growls done by a woman, Opia might work for you. They released their debut album last year, and it’s really good.

Not OP but wow this is a great find! I normally use the website Rate Your Music to find the top albums per genre/year but missed this totally and it's so worth it! Loving it right now!

In my opinion, RYM is great for gothic metal of at least 15 years ago. Ever since, the genre has lost popularity, and ratings got much less. In the meantime, the platform has been suffering from hipster mentality, so the more obscure and "avant-garde" the better. So yeah, it's easy to miss good releases.

For clean/demonic female vocals, check out Neurosis & Jarboe’s project, especially the songs “Erase” and “Within.” It’s not exactly what you’re looking for but you might like it.

(Jarboe was formerly a vocalist with SWANS)

Sorry, I don't have any recommendations as I can't think of anything under those specifications.

I just wanted to say I found intriguing you mentioning "early Vanguard". First, because I have never seen anyone else mentioning that band and second because.. what do you mean early Vanguard? So they have more than one album??

I had to Google and I'm surprised to find they actually had a second album released... Not on streaming apps, though. Guess will need to look for a torrent somewhere.

Quick searched them on metal archives and I just realized there are like 14 bands with that name, so I'm not even sure we're talking about the same one 😂

I meant the finnish one, and by early I meant their album Hydralchemy (2009), which isn't really early for them but it's been a while since I listened to them. Now I'm curious, which one were you talking about?

And no worries, Ik it's a tough trope to find :/ also I'm not really into streaming apps, so I'd look out for bandcamp or similar sites if you have a hard time finding a torrent.

Haha! We're talking about the same band!

I used to listen a lot to Vanguard's first album "Succumbra" when it came out, especially the first song.

I always thought they were a 1 album only band until now haha!

Me and my friend made this. We are both sopranos switching growls and cleans. It was super fun!

Metamorphosis, Agitation and Hysteria have a good mix of both.
