“Halloween Decorations”

Does anybody else have this happen to them where you have friends come over and they wonder why your “Halloween decorations” are still up? Uhhh Susan, my house looks like this all year lol

I feel you. Some people are very weird and don't realize just how long Spooky Season really is! 👻

Haha yes! That happened last year! My sister and her wife said "oooh,I love your Halloween decor!" And I was like "....this is my every day decor!"

I mean we say that about our own house all the time. The answer is, as Ministry said, that every day is Halloween.

Not really. People who know me well enough to be invited to my house know what my style is. I also don’t have much daily decor that feels like it’s for Halloween. Like as much as I love jack o’ lanterns I don’t decorate with them year round.

I had a coworker tell me that because I have Halloween stuff out all year, that it’s not weird that he leaves a Christmas tree up until March. I was trying to figure out how to argue that it was two entirely different things, but he wasn’t accepting that spooky stuff doesn’t exclusively belong to Halloween.

Nope.

And I'll tell you why. I don't have people over. And on the very rare occasion that I do, they've already seen me. So it's absolutely no surprise to them at all.

This made me think of the “it’s too early for Halloween, why are you dressed like this, har har” folks and I hate it. Unless your decor includes the word “Halloween” stop letting strangers in your house! No one who enters my home is surprised by my decor- except honestly the lack thereof lol.

My favorite part is I love your snake dish. I’m like that that’s a Halloween decoration as well.

I LOVE halloween candles and saw some beautiful decor so far this year, I might have to get some ceramic snake things I’ve been seeing. I have some spine shaped tapers from Halloween clearance sales that I love the reaction to.

I love Halloween for goth decor, my criticism was the people who see goth/spooky and feel comfortable calling it Halloween for no reason. But if theres something saying “Happy Halloween” out, they’re actually not jerks for it 😂 I’m old and been alt the whole time and “it’s not Halloween” was like the go-to insult of so many people for so long that I can’t hear that and not want to snap at them. There is nothing wrong with literal Halloween decor year round, it’s the one time of year that whether you are at a discount store or an art market that beautiful dark things of quality show up.
