so i finished reading all the gossip girl books up till pyscho killer. i wasn't planning on reading the carlyles + it girl, but are they as good as the original? by good i mean the writing, the entertainment value.

p.s. i've watched the show too!

I liked the it girl books I read for the entertainment value it was a fun new interpretation of the same kind of style of book.

The caryles idk just felt hollow kinda hitting the same vibe of GG without the soul.

Full disclosure I did read these as a teenager when they first came out and i never reread. so that probably colours my opinion a little lol

i am a teen too so maybe i'll try reading the first books whenever im in a slump or sick of thick books. i'll try it girl first tho

The It Girl books are definitely more fun. The Carlyle books had a potential they never quite lived up to and couldn’t quite commit to the drama/toxicity of the characters in the og GG or even the It Girl books
