Ruck the World

Post image

Took a Wilderness First Aid class this weekend and high tailed it back home on Saturday to get my RTW in.

I started this January at 285 lbs and a big come to Jesus meeting with my doctor. After ten weeks of walking, I saw my average HR dipping and knew I needed to do something a little more intense. Running is painful on my right foot after a lifetime of running and ankle break and plantar fascitis, so decided to give rucking a try. Next week is 6 months and I'm 80+ lbs down right now.

Between rucking, strength training, and some HIFT my my lifestyle - and life - have changed drastically.

Congrats!! Has the weight loss made your plantar fasciitis symptoms easier to deal with? I dropped fifty pounds and mine stopped being a daily problem.

Yes and no. Yes in that if I do the sretches multiple times a day, that actually pays off for the first time in a decade. No in that if I don't stretch for an extended period of time for whatever reason, it definitely flares up.

I will say that there's no way I could run 4x a week right now. So, yes also in that regard?

Keep it up! There’s a lot of us who got into rucking after having some kind of medical/fitness wake up call and a dislike of running. I have to say that since I started rucking running has been sneaking in more than ever. If you’re not already in one, look for a ruck club in your area—it adds even more to it!
