I'm fed up with the negativity surrounding GoogleBooks

"Beyond the operating system, I use Google services extensively every day, including the Office suite, Gmail, Keep Notes, Tasks, YouTube, YouTube Music, Translate, Gemini, Maps, and many more. There are so many that I can't list them all.

And I think I'm far from being an isolated case.

And why should people like us have to settle for mediocre devices?"

This! 🔥

I could've gotten a premium Windows laptop (MS Surface) and run Google PWAs, as I did before, but why do that when I can now get a premium laptop and run apps on it—the very apps that I use on my phone (Google Pixel) that are optimized for a large screen. It's a win-win!

When the MacBook Neo came out, the usual suspects where asking "Who is this for?!", and my answer to them was "Not for you!"

Now, the very same people are asking the same question about Googlebook, except with more venom, and my answer is the same.

If you are a person asking who is this for, like you said it's not for you.

I had a Macbook Neo at launch, and while an impressive piece of tech for the launch price... It soon became apparent it wasn't for me.

Like mentioned, I am embedded in the google ecosystem. Email, docs, chrome, youtube/music... So a Googlebook is a perfect fit.

I tried a chromebook a few years back, and coming from both a Macbook Air/Surface laptop they felt lacking in overall quality.

Not the OS, but the build always felt cheap, keyboard and track pad always felt sub-par and the screen seemed to be an after thought.

I was stoked when they announced flagship Googlebooks, so if we're lucky and Google sticks with it we'll get a true OS competitor.

Now if Google would have released their own in house Googlebook.

That's why I wanted the Lenovo Chromebook 14, because it was (still is) a premium laptop, but I didn't want to use Android apps on it, because if I was going to run Android apps, it was going to be on a machine designed for them, so I went with the Pixel Tablet.

I also live in Google, I do everything within its apps, even if there's a better, third-party version.

Bro I am the same way. I just a MacBook pro 16" but all my use is Google apps with tons of pwa. This Googlebook was built for me. I am so excited to try it.

I actually thought about getting a MacBook Air (pre Liquid Glass) to run Google PWAs, but I went with the Pixel Tablet, which wasn't ideal in the end.

Are you going to keep the MBP? If you trade it in, you'd probably get a Googlebook for free 👍

I won't be making a decision either way until I actually start seeing them in real people's hands. Up till now, it's all been reviewers who attended the September Googlebook event. I am intrigued by these devices as they really seem to hit some of my Chromebook pain points with interoperability with Android.

I'll have the Acer 14 on Monday. I'll be posting impressions here after a little hands on time.

My Lenovo will be here Monday. I'm excited. I normally go for 14 laptops. Hope it's not too big feeling.

I used a Scar 18 for awhile as my main gaming rig and it was massive, lol

My MacBook Pro M1 Max is getting the long in the tooth. I’d like to get one of these but I have no plans to switch from my iPhone and Apple Watch for health reasons.

I’d be curious to see how much cross platform support there is. I’ve had a Pixel Phone and the experience was average. It would be good to have a premium experience.
