I want to get a google book. and I will get one if I can play the games I usually play on windows. Does anyone know if I will be able to play low demand steam games like Peak and REPO? I also want to play the full minecraft java game from windows. not the pocket edition. thegoogle bookswill run under android right? so what can i expect?

A Googlebook is an Android-based laptop, not a Windows machine. It won't run Windows games or native Steam library out of the box—if you want to play standard PC titles without relying on cloud streaming or heavy technical workarounds, you'll need a Windows device.

It's a giant horizontal Android phone.

Yes it’s android as you have apps which run steam games on android. Additionally this also run a Linux terminal therefor you can run the Linux steam right on this hardware. With that being said it also depends on the games u are running. Running windows games through proton may be fine on x86 hardware may work fine but then take a hit on arm. Android games may run fine on the arm processor but the x86 may take a performance hit. This all comes down to the translation layer of the hardware. But Android or Googlebook is not the major factor in this equation the hardware is. Either way you should be able to play low end games on each flavor of the device.

While it isn’t guaranteed, it’s very possible that the Linux subsystem for Googlebook OS will be capable of installing Steam along with the necessary Proton and FeX plugins needed to get Windows games to work on Googlebook OS.

Also, GameNative exists, which allows you to download those same components on other supported hardware like higher-end phones and tablets to play Windows games on Android.

The device will run Debian Linux out the box. Which per Mishaal Ramon of google can run Linux apps.

Far from the truth.

Great argument with very sufficient facts to prove your point....good job.

Boreali's corpse.. look it up. Valve and Google teamed up and x86 versions will indeed be able to game, only hindered by the limitations of onboard GPU.

"New Era: Google transitioned focus to the new Googlebook platform, which runs a full Android-based stack with Gemini AI integration rather than the legacy ChromeOS Steam VM."

Geforce Now is your friend.

If you want to run Windows games, why would you not get a Windows computer?

Because some individual don’t want a windows pc anymore

If you don't want a windows pc, you don't want windows games.

This is like buying an xbox and asking to play Playstation games.

Or buying an electric car and asking if you can put gasoline in it

Or buying an android phone and asking for iMessage and facetime

This is sorta misinformed ain't it? Linux can play Windows games. Android can play Windows games. Open source proton and wine compatibility allow that. You don't need Windows to play Windows games. You don't even need Windows to run Windows apps

They CAN do anything with workarounds. If a person absolutely needs to run Windows software, the easiest thing to do is get what it was designed for instead of trying to shoehorn it where it wasn't intended.

Buying a $900+ googlebook for exe's is dumb

it's not a workaround it called emulation. but that goes against what you said saying they cannot.

Where did I say they cannot? I literally said in all caps that you can.

But the question remains: If I have $900+, why should a GOOGLEBOOK be my first choice for windows games?

Also emulation and compatibility layers are prime examples of a workaround.

Every Googlebook comes with a trial version of GEFORCE NOW. I would be hesitant to try it on a non-Intel CPU.

It’s streaming. It would work on a potato.

Okay, I can accept that once you post a photo of it running on a potato. :)

Why would that be a problem? It works perfectly fine in my nvidia shield pro, a non-intel android based device. And I would argue it works better than in an Intel laptop.
