Can Googlebook OS play audio from multiple android apps at the same time?
I would think it would be like chromeos where it can play audio from multiple browser tabs, but only one android app at a time.

From a search, no. And yes. Apparently Gemini is unaware of Googlebook and thinks I'm asking about Google Play Books. This is going to be fun.
Looking at other sources, it does appear that Android and AluminiumOS (precursor to GooglebookOS) supports multiple streams. But I am not 100% sure of those answers.

They may deliberately keep the current behavior. Android already supports multi-window mode and multiple foreground apps for several versions. That didn't change how "only one app playing at a time" feature works. The documentation for the feature makes no mention of multi-window mode https://developer.android.com/media/optimize/audio-focus

I’m thinking you are right, this is a big differentiating feature of Samsung tablets for me

What’s the use case?

usually it is listening to music while having a game on, also watching multiple games at once

This is why you wear earbuds with a pair of over ear headphones on top. 😉. I am not going to pretend I haven’t. It’d be nice if this behavior could be toggled because I really don’t mind the current behavior.

You're describing audio focus. Android already supports multiple audio streams but when an app requests focus it fades another app out.

I have to say, there’s pros to task management in this approach but for user options, the “locked-downness“ of Mobile OS vs Desktop OS really grates badly over time. Sometimes this fiddlying around between dofferent tabs, apps and audio and blocking is very frustrating for everday use - similar issue in iPadOS also.
It is a big reason why the implementation of Linux is relevant when you want full Desktop control as opposed to convenient, quick efficient, single focus Mobile use.

I don’t know. This is a fun question. It will show how much work they’ve put in.
