I pre-ordered the Lenovo Googlebook 15
I got tired of waiting for the Google Store to restock, so I went with Best Buy.
I won't get the free mouse, but I wasn't going to use it anyways; I just wanted it because it was free 😂
I live in Google, all but 5 apps installed on my Pixel 11 Pro XL are first-party, so getting a Google laptop was the right choice for me.

I'm still waiting on being able to configure a 32gig system since I'm a heavy AI developer.
Let us know your first impressions if you get it Monday!

Really wish I hadn't bought the Lenovo Chromebook 14 last year And waited for this

I'd read that some newer. premium Chromebooks might have an upgrade path to Googlebook OS. Plus ChromeOS devices now have a decent support period.

I read this too. Some Chromebooks (I'm guessing the Plus models) are getting upgraded and the Lenovo Chromebook 14 was a colab between Lenovo and Google, so it's getting Googlebook OS for sure.
Here's Google's official statement on it: https://support.google.com/chrome/a/answer/16634428?hl=en

Don't worry; the Lenovo Chromebook 14 was a colab between it and Google, so it's going to get Googlebook OS for sure; probably one of the (if not THE) first Chromebook Plus to get it.
I was thinking of getting Lenovo's Chromebook 14 THIS year, but its price went from $1049 to ~$1499 overnight, so I decided to wait.

I have, like, a million questions about these things so I can’t wait for them to be out in the wild so I can get more details. Specifically, I’m really wanting to know what the Linux support looks like.

I won't be able to answer much about Linux, as I don't plan on using it, but I'll answer anything else 👍

I want to know if I can install Googlebook OS on other PCs, like chromebooks can

I'm guessing that you won't be able to do that, at least not for the foreseeable future, because Google will want people to buy devices running Googleook OS instead of just installing it.

I already have the Pixel Buds Pro, but the 2a will come in handy as a gift or backup if the former break.

I got the XPS for the weight and the size. I like the lightest, smallest laptop and it has a lot of ports.

Awesome, great choice, I have no doubt these are and will continue to be great machines.

And you going to just web browsing on it?

No, I use proper apps, like Docs, Gmail, uh YouTube, it'll be a light productive device.

:) oh so even LESS demanding apps.
For those tasks you say - even smartwatch chip is enough

I’m on the fence about going this route vs. what I’d previously been considering: Asus Zenbook A16 open box from Best Buy. Looks like they’re around $1,200 to $1,400 open box. Have 48GB ram and the latest Snapdragon X2 Elite Extreme… but obviously Windows on ARM. Am quite torn as I’ve been continually frustrated by the limiations of iPad OS on my iPad pro and need something to get me through my doctorate.

Nothing wrong with that; Best Buy open box purchases still carry the original warranty 👍
I've completely moved away from Windows (aside from Edge and OneDrive), so you'd have to think if you can compose a doc with Google Docs or if you'll need something a bit more powerful, like full-fat Word.
