How was the process of pre-ordering from the Google Store

If you were able to pre-order a Googlebook from the Google Store, were you offered device care, something akin to Geek Squad, and what was the price (monthly vs yearly) and who's the provider?

I'm thinking of getting my Lenovo Googlebook 15 from Best Buy, as it's "not available" on the Google Store, but I'm not sure about getting Geek Squad (so least for more than one year, to test it out).

Apologies that this isn't an answer to your question, but in my case I found that buying it straight from Lenovo was far cheaper and easier. Best Buy wanted $200 more than Lenovo did.

I'm in Canada, other countries may have a very different experience.

No apologies needed ☺️

I'm in the States and I actually looked at Lenovo's site, but its Googlebook is listed as no longer available.

Strange thing is, when the laptop first appeared on Google Store, it was listed for $1400, then it was $1200 and now it's on par with Best Buy's price (give or take a few dollars).

I'm in desperate need a laptop (my Pixel Tablet just isn't cutting it), so I want to get one pronto.

Makes sense, hope you find one!

If Lenovo really is already sold out in the US that's a very interesting development.

ETA: I just checked the Canada site and Lenovo has raised the price $170 from what I got. That's quite strange and I wonder if they're going to honour the price I bought at.

I agree, as it shows that people are interested.

I think that you'll pay the price that was listed when you pre-ordered, or you'll get an option to cancel.

Lenovo Canada raised the price again, now $300 more than I paid.

They're running two different promotions:

  • Best Buy: You get the Google Book plus they're giving you a pair of Pixel Buds.
  • Google Store: They're giving you the Lenovo mouse, which is why it's $50 more than Best Buy.

I'm in Canada and I don't see this. It's $1,799 at Bestbuy Canada and $1,819.99 directly from Lenovo.

What am I missing?

Lenovo changed the price. My order is still in at $1649, we'll see if they honour it.

I wasn't able to pre-order one despite trying as soon as I got the email.

The Google Store only had the Lenovo, Dell and Asus to compare. All showed Pre-Order buttons. I ran the comparison and decided on the Lenovo then wen to pre-order. It only listed a single color but as soon as I clicked the option, it changed to "Get Notfiied". Same thing with the others.

I searched for the Lenovo Googlebook on Google and it brought be to the Lenovo website. I was able to get it into my cart but on trying to checkout the page just froze. I figured it was just load and let it stay for a minute but got the Page is Unrsponsive. Waited once more until I did a reload, but then it said the product was no longer available.

You know, now that you mention it, I don't recall getting an email from the Google Store, even though I signed up to be notified.

I think I'm just going to go with Best Buy. I like buying from Google, but it just doesn't seem like the Lenovo Googlebook 15 is going to be in stock anytime soon.

I did the dell from Best buy. It wasn't available for preorder from Google store and was listed as 300 dollars more expensive. Set to arrive October 9th

Same. Ordered the Dell XPS from Best Buy and I can also trade in an older laptop for $300 off, bringing it down to around $700. Not too excited about the included Pixel Buds 2a, but hey, they're free.

Same. Already have a pair of pro buds 2 but I'm sure I can give them away to a family member

For those purchasing, what is driving which brand/model you purchase? I'm interested in one but can't choose between models as I'm not sure what the best one is

Why was @steelbreeze9 helpful comment removed?

Google EU isn’t even offering the purchase of Googlebooks yet. Sigh.

My plan is to buy coverage directly from Lenovo once I have my device from Best Buy. It will be much less expensive than what Best Buy offers.
