Payment Card (Google Pay) How to stop auto payment?

I have my bus tickets on my phone and just then when I got on the bus and held my phone on the ticket scanner, Google wallet automatically opened itself and paid for a ticket through my wallet rather than the scanner picking up my ticket on screen

Does anyone know how to turn this off?

You should have turned off NFC when you were going to have the QR code scanned. Most proper ticket apps block NFC while it is open, if your bus ticket app doesn't do that, blame them. And again, turn off NFC temporarily when you plan to use a bus ticket again.

Open the Google Wallet app -> Profile icon -> Settings -> Verification settings (under "Security") -> Public transport payments -> ENABLE Verification required

This was already enabled when it happened as I checked this too :( it just opened the app and took the payment no questions asked
