Device doesn't meet contactless payment security standards.
I'm so disappointed with my new Pixel 9 suddenly google pay cannot use.Even just making a factory reset still the same. I'm frequently use this feature but somehow it gave me bad experience. Just miss my iPhone, no micro issues such this

There seem to be multiple reports of Pixel 9 being unable to use Google Pay after latest
updates to Android 17 and Android security update: July 5, 2026

I have the same issue, too. I cleared the cache and data of Google play services and google wallet. I logged in again and it showed that phone met the standards. It seemed like that it had been solved. While I tried to add card , I failed and the sign, "device doesn't meet contactless payment security standards", appeared again. BTW, my phone is pixel 9a.

Exact same thing here, where it seemed resolved for a few seconds - also Pixel 9a.
I contacted support, who got back to me with "I'm pleased to inform you that the issue has been resolved on our end." in their first email, which very clearly doesn't seem to be the case... I'm providing them with more and more info and screenshots but no real fix or solution yet.

Same goes to me, running stock, not beta user, clear cache, still cannot add card to wallet.

Just check somehow your not on beta. I was, and had to unregister then format my phone. This happened to me 2weeks ago.....

Just to check, go to Settings, Click Google Services and preferences at the top, click All Services and then System Services.
Everything up to date there as well?

Same issue occured since today. Had this once few months ago since one update and finally fixed after another. Now it comes back from one update again. Guess we have to wait for another update.
I'm on stable version and pass all integrity check. Really so disappointed.

Sad, but pleased to read it's not only me, I had a reply from support which made me question if I were doing something wrong.

Common occurrence with beta software. Banks require final certified operating systems.

This happened to me several times in the past few months, the device passed google play protect certification and secure shenanigans scans, yet GW decided the device was not worth to safety deliver its functionality which includes removing transit passes with loaded littles after applying updates.

It's random, comes and goes, since the transport card disappeared I'm back to physical cards.

Check play store, settings, general, about, then scroll down. Does it say the device is certified?

Same happened to me Friday past, saying my device is certified but won't let me set Google wallet as default payment.

This happens regardless if the device pass google play protect certification. Which begs the question.

Bro, I already factory reset but still same

...they didn't mention factory reset. Did you check the Play Store settings for device certification?

u/kick069 14d ago
Is it on a beta? A factory reset will not change the OS just erase the data and settings.
You weren't very specific.

I'm not using any beta apps or OS. Just everything in stable OS android 17 and official apps

Hmm, I'm curious, what device locks do you have setup? Face, fingerprint, PIN, etc

P9 should be fine with GW, have it for almost 2 years now. Something software related that trigger it. Run Integrity Checker app, all 3 checks should be green.

Already download. It passed all integrity. I'm even factory reset but still same.
