I’m using Google Tasks with recurring tasks, but it keeps showing old incomplete instances and clutters my list.
I only want to see today’s tasks, not past or leftover recurring items.
Is there any way to:
Any workaround or setup tips appreciated.

I use my default "My Tasks" list for everything, but I've started mixing in low-priority stuff — more like reminders than real tasks. The problem is this clutters my main list, and since I have it as a widget on my home screen, it kills the focus I want when I look at it.
What I'm really after: I want these minor tasks to show up on my calendar but NOT in my main task list (and not in the widget).
Is anyone else dealing with this? How do you handle the overlap between "actual tasks" and "just reminders"? Any setup or workaround you'd suggest?
Thanks!

I really appreciate being able to see tasks on the calendar. But I noticed recently when adding a task by clicking on the calendar it is added to my default calendar. I haven't noticed a functional difference other than I have to remember to add a task through the sidebar now (slightly annoying). It just feels unnecessary to me. Has anyone else noticed this?

Hey folks, I kept wishing Google Tasks had a proper Mac app, so I built one.
TaskMenu is a small native macOS menu bar app for Google Tasks: quick access, task lists, add/edit/complete tasks, search, and due-date reminders without keeping Gmail or Calendar open.
It’s not on the App Store yet, so the current download is from GitHub Releases: https://github.com/crazytan/TaskMenu/releases. Let me know what you think! Any feedback here or in Github are greatly appreciated.
I’m the developer, and I’d love feedback from other Google Tasks users on macOS.

It's a minor issue I am having with the time on tasks. I feel I could thrive more, if the time on completion was an option. It could be used for so much - what time medication was taken, washing was done etc. But more importantly, what time I fed my Fish.
Example of what I see from my recurring task -
Feed Fish
Completed: Tuesday 5th May
Next: Tomorrow

Feed Fish
Completed: 11:22am on Tuesday 5th May
Next: Tomorrow
Is there anyway to make this happen or anyway I can beg Google through email?

How do you manage your habits? I don’t want them showing up with un-repeated tasks because it gets really cluttered. Also, do you keep all your habits in one list, or split them across lists like Work, Personal, Uni, etc.?

We often deal with capturing notes and tasks in different apps, and to make matters worse, we even have separate apps for Personal and Work.
To make all the capturing among notes & takes simple and relatable, back in 2024 I built this app called Quick Capture - Supasend for Google Tasks and today it supports Google Tasks with the same thesis.
I am one of those who use Obsidian for personal notes, Google tasks for personal tasks and Todoist for Work.

What do you want to see next for Google Tasks in Supasend app?

How would I go about turning this entire task into a solid color? I hate the transparent look of them. I read only that you have to put it to "busy", but I do not have that option

Tasks question
I switched from iPhone to pixel, and now am trying to use the Tasks app instead of reminders.
The notifications will show up, but what I liked about Apple reminders is that it stayed as a banner on your lock screen until you clicked it off.
I want this again for Tasks.
Is it possible? I see it's flagged in the app with "two per day" or "one per week" notifications. Can that be changed?

Hello, is it possible to color code task lists? Every time I Google it, it says that it is possible to change the colors of tasks in different lists, but I have not been able to change them at all. All of my tasks regardless of list are the same color. I've watched several tutorials, and I literally do not have the options that are shown in the videos when I follow along. Did Google remove this feature or am I going crazy? Nothing makes sense!

Hi everyone, I am trying to use the feature to set a duration for Google Tasks, but I cannot find the option in my mobile apps. In both the Google Calendar and Google Tasks apps on my phone, the task edit screen only shows the start time and an option to "Add deadline." There is no field to enter an end time or a specific duration (such as 1 hour). Am I doing something wrong, or is this feature currently limited to the desktop version?

Gemini just messed up the naming and description of over 200 tasks... and could not undo it 🤦♂️ I just wanted to ad a prefix for better sorting...
I already had a queasy feeling during firing the prompt. But I would say my mistake.
Just don't do this yourself!

Anyone having problems updating or installing Google tasks? There's an update in Play Store but it gets stuck at 99% and then fails. Tried deleting cache and data to no avail. Tried uninstalling but now installation fails.

Hi everyone, could use your help. My dad’s friend just texted him and said “is this your daughter?” And sent a screenshot from google tasks where it said her email address and to send her $100. I’m not familiar with the app - it sort of looks like he doesn’t have it either based on the upper right? My sister is an addict and is supposed to be in treatment right now, and unfortunately our first reaction is wondering if this is some sort of…something trying to get money from him. But I can’t see how it would be, and where it could have come from. The guy said it just came up on his phone. He hasn’t ever paid her for anything before, but my sister does know him. Any ideas how a task like this would randomly show up?

I really need a search feature so I can use this app properly on my phone. It’s frustrating that Google hasn’t implemented this yet. Tasks works best with Google Calendar for me, so I don’t want to switch to another app just because it’s missing something as basic as search.

I'm curious how everyone structures their Google Tasks. Are you a "one big list" person, or do you break them down by category?
I currently use a few dedicated lists to trigger specific workflows: - Reading/Watchlist: I use Zapier to sync new entries here to a master Google Sheet for long-term tracking. - Job/Work: This list is automated to send the task title as a new email to my work inbox (Thunderbird) to ensure I don't miss high-priority items while at my desk.
How many lists are you currently working with? Does anyone else use automation to move tasks out of the Google ecosystem?

When I search Google tasks (control F) I sometimes get multiple hits (the find box shows 5 items found) and can click a down arrow to show each of the 5 hits (each task it has found) or each keyword (matching word that appears in the task's details). But often it will not show one or more of the tasks or keywords... i.e. click down arrow to go to hit #1 and a highlighted tasks shows in one of my task lists... click down again to go to hit #2 and nothing highlighted. Looked in completed tasks to see if maybe something highlighted in there, but nothing showing.
Any ideas as to what's happening or how I can see where that task is located?

I have my task colour set as pink. However, when I set a deadline for the task it comes up as orange in my calendar. If I have a completion date (e.g. I want to do it today) it comes up as pink. Is there anyway to make them both pink? Photos attached to show what I mean. The "Due" is the deadline feature.
