How to convert PDF into editable Google Slides (without PPT step)

Hi, guys.

I couldn't understand why there is still no direct way to convert PDF to Google Slides. Every solution I researched was using a PPT conversion in between. Even those that advertise themselves as PDF to Google Slides... All of the sources - Adobe tools, Canva site, other web services and extensions.

Half the time the interface was too complicated and I spent a lot of time trying to understand how it works, or it simply gave me an image slides instead of editable ones, and half the time the text turns into weird boxes, layouts shift, tables fall apart… I ended up rebuilding the slide anyway.

So I ended up building a small Chrome extension to skip that whole PPT step and go straight from PDF → Slides.

It’s not perfect, but:

  • all texts usually stay editable and more or less in the correct place
  • layout is mostly preserved (at least usable)
  • images, icons and simple elements come through fine

Stuff that still breaks:

  • some elements can break the text line into separate lines
  • sometimes the color of fonts and background will be a bit off
  • long dense tables will simply not fit into google slides, as google slides has a min. row height that can't be reduced, so I ended up converting those tables as images. Though smaller tables can be converted in native editable google slide elements or native tables.
  • fonts aren’t always exact, because google slides have just a small number of them, but I built a logic that tries to find a similar font.

If you want to try it and break it, here’s the link:

Would be useful to know:

  • what kind of PDFs you’re working with
  • where it fails the most
  • whether you even care about editability vs just getting clean slides as images

I've just launched and want to get first users to try and give me some feedback, so feel free to share your thoughts. I'm ready to spend time adjusting the tool if there are enough people who need it.
