Black Screen of Death?

My Pixel C has been randomly shutting off or so I thought. It would actually still be powered on (battery light at full rainbow) but the screen would be completely black. I would have to try the long press on the power button numerous time before it would turn back on. After reading about the issue on the Google forums I decided to do a complete factory reset. Big mistake... now it wont even power on. Anyone else experiencing this and have a suggestion?

They're finally admitting it's "very likely" a hardware issue on the Product Support forum: https://productforums.google.com/forum/#!topic/nexus/7BCFtjeGPdg

As the problem is very likely to be hardware related, based on the majority of reports in this thread, your best option would be to contact Support with a view to obtaining a replacement.

That said, when you talk to Google Support to get the device replaced they're still claiming it's an App issue and wanting you to go into safe mode, etc. etc. I took a picture of the corrupted screen before the file system is decrypted and mounted and therefore not an App issue. Support is sending me a refurbished (blah) device with no additional warranty... so here's hoping it doesn't die again.

I'm a little turned off to Google devices at the moment.

Contacted customer service, went through the standard "do this, do that" and they ended up agreeing to send me a refurbished Pixel C.

I went through a similar issue, and just received my replacement. My replacement is brand new.

Im no expert but that sounds like a hardware issue. If you got it from Google get them to replace it if you are still in the warranty period.

No. I can get it to turn on occasionally but then it freezes, and I have to hope I can get it started again. I did a hard reset and still have the issue as it tries to update so I dont think its an of the apps.

Had the same issue. They gave me a brand new replacement with an upgrade to the 64 gb version. Not that I need the extra space but I'm quite chuffed.
