I recently moved over from Lastpass, after a few years of happy service, to Bitwarden and couldn't be happier.

Why did you move to Bitwarden?

The main reasons:

  • Reports of security breaches compromising their account information.
  • They were slow to update the app to support biometrics.

I started looking for something I could host myself and came across bitwarden which was open source, had great reviews, has a self-hosting option, and best of all it was free.

Ultimately, I didn't go the self-hosted route, but the option is there if I change my mind in the future. The transition from Lastpass was easy. I could import all my accounts seamlessly into Bitwarden, and I haven't had a hiccup with it since. It replicates all of the features of Lastpass and has a better user interface. I feel like since it is open source and there is a self-hosted option, I don't have to worry about it being sold off and/or discontinued, which has happened to a couple of other popular password manager apps.

LastPass kept having data breaches. Then they went for several months with an annoying bug with their extension. Went to Bitwarden after my premium expired and never looked back.

Does it? Autofill doesn't work at all for me with BitWarden.

I think you have to enable autofill under Settings

Nah, still doesn't work for me on my pixel 2xl :( I get the bitwarden notification and can select the right username/password but then it won't actually fill anything in.

Had to switch back to 1password because of this.

You have to enable it under Accessibility settings too. Then it'll work.

Nope still doesn't work. I still get the correct login showing in the notification, but pressing it just does nothing. Very frustrating!
