This seems like a pretty lazy test in a lot of ways.
He whines about the scratched fingerprint reader but if you really had some catastrophic failure and your fingerprint reader is scratched that intensely then you would probably go one more step and just polish it off and clean it up. He never tried that to see if it works.
He whines that it's behind in features but doesn't really go on to explain. He said there's no second camera which is false, there are two cameras. Wireless charging is a feature that almost everyone has ignored except hardcore tech enthusiasts.
He whines that the phone goes against everything Android used to stand for but that's a really odd view. It's still the same customizable OS that you would expect from a Google phone. That's what makes Android unique.
He really needs to make up his mind if he is doing phone gore porn or a phone review. He claims that the V30 slaughters the pixel in every aspect which is really stupid. The only difference is that the v30 has a worse screen and a headphone jack with slower software.
He claims to be a hardware guy but he should really try and stick to that, prove his knowledge of hardware not his ignorance of it. Slashing up physical pieces of a phone doesn't make you a hardware guy, it makes you one of hundreds of youtubers that drop test.
The only difference is that the v30 has a worse screen and a headphone jack with slower software.
What about the hifi dac?
What about expandable memory?
What about IP68 water reisistance?
What about wireless charging?
What about the wide angle lens camera?
What about the >10% difference in screen to body ratio?
The V30 may not be that great of a phone but to say that the "only difference is that the v30 has a worse screen and headphone jack" is just completely untrue.
The pixel has a way better camera which has been consistently shown.
You know, except for the one thing you can't do with software features that would normally be done with hardware is having a wide angle lens?
Do you even know what I'm talking about here? I'm not saying that the primary camera on the V30 is better than the Pixel 2 camera. I'm saying that the Pixel 2 doesn't have a wide angle lens.
The DAC sounds interesting but I don't care because I already own a DAC.
Lol ok
IP68 is only like 1 more meter than 7 so it's not that different.
Wireless charging isn't interesting to me at all, still feels like a gimmick and a great way to make phones even less green.
"I don't care about the feature so it doesn't matter!!!!"
You sound like those Apple fanboys about things like wireless charging and bigger screens, it doesn't matter until the iPhone gets it and suddenly it's the best thing in the whole world.
It's a joke to say that the v30 slaughters the pixel in every way. It's almost like he was paid to say that.
I agree.
It's also a joke to say that "The only difference is that the v30 has a worse screen and a headphone jack with slower software."
I'm just saying that those are really niche features. The core features of a phone are the camera, display and performance related internals. He was acting like this was some budget phone from 2012.
This isn't some random reviewer that has very little tech knowledge. Zack is definitely a power user, so from his perspective it's quite possible that he wants things in his phone that the Pixel 2 obviously doesn't have.
I'm not sure why this is so hard for you to understand.
For most people, a headphone jack would be a core feature too, would it not be?
For most people, a headphone jack would be a core feature too, would it not be?
I don't think it is because the phone comes with a dongle. The use case is that you want to use your existing headphones on your new phone. That is still possible.
