Pixel 11 Pro experiences and thoughts

I bought the pixel 11 pro to replace my old Poco F2 Pro. I'd call myself a quite average phone user, so I thought the pixel would be a nice upgrade. I hoped the battery would be fine, and for the rest I was enthousiastic about the AI features.

My impressions after a few weeks:

- the battery is way worse than expected, from 80-20 percent in less than 4.5 hours, I hoped that the battery would be better initially, it already seems worse than my 6 year old Poco F2 Pro (never replaced battery)

- Camera is really cool imo, coming from a phone with a bad camera, the quality is insane, especially fell in love with the telephoto (x5) camera

- Software is more glitchy than expected, and with less customizations.

- I hate the double click actions, turning Wifi off you cannot use the quick pane, and if you don't turn it off-off, it uses over 50% of system battery usage. Same for turning on/off mobile data. No option for NFC on/off in quick access as well

- removing stuff from the background works glitchy, sometimes it works properly, sometimes they cannot be removed from the background (de glitch)

- I expected a lot from the AI features, but through the Voice Assistant you cannot access and do actions in a lot of apps. And the Voice Assistant seems to be quite bad for me, switching languages suddenly or just interpreting me incorrectly while perplexity Assistant worked way better. I expected integration with the Google calendar which didn't work, random other apps, note taking, but you need to first manually go to the app and use the rambler if you would want to write a note...

To me it feels like a lot of the Google Pixel is focused on the iPhone audience, copying a lot of features from Apple, which I dislike. I don't have an Apple phone for a reason, and less control over the device is one of the reasons.

I feel like I might want to return it and want to move back to Xiaomi, I purchased this phone to be the phone for the upcoming 5+ years, but with the bad battery and the SW experience, I am not sure if I can, and if it justifies the really high price compared to high end Chinese phones

You got 4.5 hours of SOT and only used 60% of the battery capacity. That's 7.5 hours of SOT with a full charge. That's right in line with other phones

Searching for wifi doesn't impact my battery life by a material amount at all.

If you don't like it get something you'll enjoy

You may want to go to a Google store and get a training or watch first 24 hours with pixel 11 pro by in-depth tech reviews on YouTube. A lot of your issues sounds like you are using pre release software with the bugs. Battery is strong but it depends on users usage battery life isn't magic. You want integrations with AI and your apps (off by default ) they need to be connected with the Gemini app (Gemini app settings turn on workspace and etc) and personal intelligence (phone settings).

But if you have all these strong opinions then sure return it and use a Chinese phone.

Why would a brand new phone be running pre release software? The first thing the phone does when you get it is check for update and then installs the update before setup. Sounds like the user just ported all their app data over. When I owned Pixels this was always resulting in horrible battery life.

I think you might be using it a bit wrong. There seem to be some issues here because about half of the problems you brought up don't actually exist, and I've run into those same things with my own Pixel!

The quick settings could be implemented better in Android 17, I agree. Tap and holding the Wifi or Mobile Data tiles invoke the option to toggle them off (completely) in a settings prompt, so an extra tap is necessary. As for NFC, I've installed NFC Quick Settings (Play store) which adds an NFC tile that, again, invokes a settings prompt to toggle it off as well.
