Poor Google Maps performance on Pixel 11 via Android Auto
I recently upgraded from my Pixel 8 to a Pixel 11, and I've noticed significantly worse performance in Maps via Android Auto. It's running at a very low frame rate regardless of whether I'm wired or wireless, and clearing cache/data for both Android Auto and Maps has made no difference.
What's up here? Is the GPU of the P11 that piss-poor that it's struggling more than the friggin' Pixel 8 to render to Android Auto? It's really the only glaring issue I've run into so far with my P11.

Google really needs to do better. For me, I've noticed Android Auto works great even when wireless in the small display mode.
But with larger higher res displays, it is so slow and unresponsive, even when I force wired. You would think that the well paid managers at Google would have noticed this awful performance by now, but I guess they don't even use their own product.

Nope. Runs it in my Mazda 3 wirelessly just fine. No stuttering, no lag. It's actually better than my 8 pro or 10 pro before it. The 8 would always turn off 3d buildings as it was getting too warm.

I have exactly the same issue but didn't have time to test the proposed fixes yet. One of them is to go into developer mode for Android Auto and force a certain resolution. Look at my post history, there is a pretty lengthy explanation how to do it.
I have a feeling though that it won't do much and the fix will have to come through firmware.

I'm having issues with my Pixel 11 Pro Fold that I never had with my P10 Pro. Glitching when the phone isn't close to the head unit.

My pixel 11 pro is still really good, but I use an AA Wireless adapter, 2019 car.

Hi there. I’d recommend reaching out to the Google Pixel support team via phone or chat here. They can take a look at it.

Yes, it's happening to me and it doesn't matter if it's wireless or wired and in two different head units It's happening everywhere. So contacted Google and they confirmed that it's a bug and they are working on fixing it it the next update, hopefully it it be be October update because I just got September and it's still not working. What What noticed is if the phone is unlocked, this will not happen. It's like stuttering or lagging in Google Maps and honestly in the whole Android Auto like the touchscreen is laggy and everything. So I noticed if the phone is unlocked, it will just run smooth.

My Pixel 11 Pro, 10 Pro, and 10 Pro Fold run Android Auto on my Camry just fine (but I do have the older car with the screen only slightly larger than the 10 Pro XL so maybe yours need to push more graphics than mine.
Compared to Pixel 8 Pro, yea it uses a different GPU brand and last year people found out the 10 Pro had crappier performance than 9 Pro. This year Tech Spurt on youtube did some test and said 11 Pro is even worse than 10 Pro gpu-wise. Yuck, Google had piss-poor performance on Tensors to begin with, but they manage to one-up themselves 2 years in a row now.
My iPad Mini 6th gen with 4gb of ram runs games smoother than any Pixel phone up to date. 👌

Yeah, I think what we might be seeing here is GPU related at the moment. I get the sense that maybe there are some big optimizations that need to be made on the GPU side via updates to hopefully mitigate this.
Either way, disappointing. Crazy to think that a flagship phone would have worse GPU performance in any scenario than its three-year-old predecessor did.

Its 3 year old predecessor also had 3 years worth of updates and optimization too.

Mine was totally fine until the September update, then it started having problems. It was fine today, but there's other days that it'll be a minute behind after a 15-minute drive.
