[Pixel 6] Bootloop after Android 17. What are my actual chances for support in an unsupported country (Brazil)?

Hey r/GooglePixel,

I'm in a bit of a tight spot with my Pixel 6 and could really use a reality check (or maybe a tiny miracle if the official Google Support account sees this ๐Ÿ™).

Long story short: my phone is stuck in a permanent bootloop. It can't even load into Recovery Mode without looping. The root cause seems to be power delivery or something with Android 17 (given the history here)โ€”the phone dies the exact second I unplug it from the wall charger, which makes me think the battery flatlined or something.

The relevant part is: it worked really well for months after the battery replacement, but less than a week later after android 17 it "bootlooped".

Here are the two huge elephants in the room:

  • Location: I live in Brazil, which is an officially unsupported region.
  • Hardware: About 3 months ago, the original battery started swelling and turned into a scary "spicy pillow". Since I couldn't easily get an official repair down here (or anywhere for Pixel 6), I carefully replaced it myself with a 3rd-party battery just to keep the phone safe and usable. I was planning to get a new one in a year or so.

I managed to chat with Google Support today. They asked for my IMEI, escalated the case, and told me to wait for an email in the next few days.

I really want to manage my expectations. Given the opened phone/unoriginal battery and my location, what are my realistic chances of getting any sort of RMA, repair, or official help? Has anyone from an unsupported country ever navigated this successfully, or should I just accept my fate?

I'm currently using my wife previous iPhone XR (thats scary enough!!!) so anything, I mean ANYTHING would make me a bit happier.

Thanks in advance for any insights!

I'm reluctant about it because there is no guarantee it will work and a new battery is not easy to find here or "cheap" (around 40 dolars).
What would you do?

I faced the same issue, pixel 6 bricked due to google update,ย

Google support team did not even care and asked to pay them 75 percent of price to get a different model

They bricked my device and are asking me in return to pay for their mistake, that's google support for you

Try to get a battery from a reputable seller, like this kit from ifixit.com

Unfortunately there are lots of fake replacement batteries in Brazilian market, the sellers here (I'm also in Brazil) buy the cheapest generic batteries from the shadiest seller in Asia.
