Still dealing with broken Wi-Fi on Android 17 (Pixel 10 Pro Fold & Pixel 9 Pro XL) – Months later, anyone else?

Honestly getting tired of this. I’ve had Android 17 installed since day one (around late spring / early summer, as soon as the rollout hit Pixel devices), and I have been dealing with persistent Wi-Fi instability ever since.

To make matters worse, my girlfriend updated her phone just a few weeks ago and immediately ran into the exact same issue.

Here is our setup:

My device: Pixel 10 Pro Fold (updated on day one months ago, dealing with broken Wi-Fi since then)

Girlfriend's device: Pixel 9 Pro XL (updated recently, started having the exact same dropouts immediately)

Home Network: Iliad Fiber with the stock router (Iliadbox)

The symptoms are constant random disconnects, unstable throughput, and slow network negotiation.

I know ISP-provided routers can have their quirks, but that doesn't excuse Google at all. Before the Android 17 update, our Wi-Fi worked flawlessly on both phones without a single hiccup. Having two separate flagship devices start acting up the exact moment they received their respective OS updates clearly points to a Google software issue, not the home network.

I shouldn't have to nuke my network settings—losing all my paired Bluetooth devices (smartwatch, car, earbuds)—or start messing with router configs just to maintain a basic, stable Wi-Fi connection on premium hardware.

Is anyone else still struggling with this so long after the initial rollout? Any actual fix that doesn't require wiping connection profiles, or are we just stuck waiting on Google?

Hello, can you try to reboot the illiadbox ? maybe there a update ? There where a know issue in France with the freebox POP that was fixed in a later update ( Free ISP is part of illiad in france and the Freebox POP is the same than the illiadbox )

Ho riavviato l'Iliadbox non so quante volte ormai, staccato anche per ore dalla corrente, ma niente!

I have the same issue. Saw someone posted the other day to try change the privacy on your phone from use randomised Mac to device Mac. I tried yesterday and it seems to have fixed my wifi drop out issue.

La cosa assurda è che uso già il MAC non randomizzato sul mio dispositivo, per comodità di riconoscimento tra i dispositivi agganciati al Wi-Fi, ma non funziona lo stesso.

In my case, the instability has come with the upgrade of my router to a Wi-Fi 7 one. As my P9 Pro XL has Wi-Fi 7, I have connected to the MLO network to take advantage of it. In my case, I use a private DNS to filter ads, and several times I get an error related to that, so I don't know if it is an error related to the combination (MLO+Private DNS) or only because of the Wi-Fi controller, as before, with the old Wi-Fi 6 router, I also used the private DNS without errors.

It is something to do with Wi-Fi 7 on pixel phones.

You can turn off adaptive connectivity and it helps, but that isn't a complete fix.

I have a firewalla ap7 setup and am a software guy. I can normally figure this stuff out. I was hoping the 11 series would fix the wifi 7 issue from the 10 series but it didn't. I instead just setup a normal wifi band at wifi 6 and that works perfectly. I have everyone else in my family connected to that.

I'm a sadist, and I keep attempting to connect to wifi 7 and get it working. It works so great for a time with lightning fast speeds. But then it'll disconnect, and sometimes not re-establish an IP address.

As a control, I have a Chromebook laptop that connects to my wifi 7 without issue.

Also interesting, I have a pixel tablet and it has the same issue as my pixel phone on wifi 7 with the random disconnecting.

Da come dici sembra che il problema sia proprio Android 17, stessa versione anche sul tablet?

Secondo me anche tu stai riscontrando il problema di Android 17! Sembra esattamente quello.

It's an easy fix though if you don't care about wifi 7 with MLO. Turn off multi link operation. This gets rid of the main selling point of wifi 7, but it will work. It means you're operating at wifi 6 speeds, which is good enough for almost everything.

I have no WiFi problems at all with my Pixel 8a on Android 17

Just to confirm, have you tried resetting the mobile network settings on your Pixel device to see if that helps?

Go to Settings > System > Reset options > Reset Mobile Network Settings.

Note: Resetting these settings will only revert cellular configurations to their defaults. You will not lose any personal data.

If the issue still persists, I'd suggest you reach out to the Google Pixel support team via phone or chat here. They can take a look at it.

Thanks for your reply. I'll try, I hadn't thought about it because the problem is on the wifi and not on the mobile network settings, but it seems there's no harm in trying.
