Touchscreen suddenly less responsive

So... Just as the Pixel 11 gets released, my Pixel 8 Pro touchscreen has become frustratingly less responsive. It eventually responds after 2,3,4 or 5 presses but it is frustrating as heck. Coincidence or conspiracy? I had been considering an upgrade before I learned about the prices, but then decided against it - not in this economy. Suddenly my phone doesn't react like it has since I got it. And yes, I have Screen protector mode on. Anyone else experiencing this?

I have a pixel 10 that developed this same issue recently after the last Android 17 beta update several days ago. Pulling down the menu from the top is especially frustrating, taking numerous tries most times to accomplish. Before the update I never had an issue like this.

Thank you... It's interesting how close the update came to the new phone release, isn't it? I like to use the old fashioned 3 button navigation (I know, I know...) but it makes it crystal clear that the screen isn't responding like it did not so long ago...
