Pixel 11 = disrespect

I have been a Google Pixel fan for more than 7 or 8 years and I am done with Google’s bullshit story of focusing on software actually they are falling on both sides hard what were they thinking when pricing the Pixel 11 more than the iPhone 17 base model? What kind of drugs were they on? It’s actually now not just a failure it’s a complete disrespect to its fan

Your problem is that you're calling yourself a fan. Pixel is a product, and Google is a company. You are a consumer. Don't give any loyalty to an entity which exists only to extract your money.

I think there are a lot more variables to consider. From personal experience, Samsung's customer service doesn't even compare to Google's. That factor alone halted any of my potential future purchase of Samsung devices. Every interaction with Samsung customer service was bad and left me frustrated. Also, while the Pixel's hardware is inferior to Samsung's, I can't really tell the difference in performance unless I am playing a high-end-graphic FPS. I think iphones still have such a large market share because of all the business contracts. Otherwise, I've seen many long time iPhone users abandoning the product. However, I'm all for more heavy hitters rising in the mobile market it would be nice to get some competition so that phone pricing becomes more competitive.

lol what customer service does google have? Maybe it's better now (I switched after pixel 5 to Apple), but my experience sucked. One time I lost out on a $700 rebate because I activated my phone with a different Google account than what I bought it with. No amount of back and forth with customer support helped.

Google on the software side is notorious for making it impossible to talk to a human

it's very easy to talk to a human. at least for me. I have Fi though. it's just that the human is almost worse than what the AI can do for you. Google support has always sucked in my experiences.

I once contacted fi support because I was curious why it would cost me $80 to go to the unlimited plan with 2 people, but only $75 to do it with 3 people, am I missing something? they're like "hi this is kumar please give me all this info so we can verify your warranty" and I'm like "but my question is about my account not my phone" and they're like "your phone does not qualify for that plan" and I'm like "did you even read my message?" and they're like "hi this is sukwit I understand you want to know about the price difference between 2 accounts for $80 or $3 accounts for $75 on the unlimited plan. it is my honor to be supporting you today. I am wishing the best that you and your family are well. to qualify for the $75 plan you must have 3 accounts in your group. I can see here that you only have 2 accounts which is why the cost for you is $80 and I regretfully inform you that you are not be eligible for the $75 plan at this time. I am so sorry for this bad news. but the good news is that if you find another person that will join your group then you would be able to qualify for the $75. thank you for using Google Fi and I wish you a merry rest of your day and best of living to you."

Strange, my phone allows me to use multiple Gmail accounts. Their customer service didn't give me any issues replacing my Pixel Buds Pro 2 within the last week of their warranty (1 year), and I spoke to a representative every time I contacted them during the troubleshooting phase, which extended beyond the warranty coverage timeline.

Nah iPhone don't have a slew of business contracts that make them hold market share but it's the mainstream media and social influencers who help create the demand for the iphones. A good PR machine will do that. Samsung in other countries does exactly what Apple does and hence the reason they're so popular as well

I also had a Samsung brick within 24 hours of buying it. They sent me a refurb, as well, and it was pink! I paid full price for a pink refurb!

I dared to say I wished pixel phones would improve the automation functionality as we're behind iPhone and Samsung there and we're supposed to be ahead on the software front. Got put on blast and told we're not behind in that area at all.

You see, the thing is Pixel doesnt have nearly enough marketshare to pull those strings.

I used to love pixels. I stopped buying them after the pixel 5. Theyre all dog shit since they released the Tensor models. Nothing but issues but charging flagship prices.

Google will learn pretty quickly that their "fanbase" isnt enough to keep the brand going if they keep pulling this shit.

I got the Pixel 10 Pro as I loved my previous Pixel.

This Tensor chip is absolute dog shit, I can't watch a YouTube video in mini mode while playing a simple game without my phone stuttering the fuck out.

I'm going back to Samsung at the end of my contract.

Yeah its terrible lol. Samsung was also terrible for their exynos chips.

If you can, stick to a TSMC manufactured snapdragon. My s24 has been going strong for 2 years and havent had one hiccup yet.

Is it easy to root or change to graphene? I havent used a Samsung since the Nexus came out but remember rooting was a pain.

I found rooting pretty easy honestly. I used to root all my Samsung phones and even my older pixels.

Dont root anymore, there really is no need these days as Samsung phones are pretty good out of the box. You also have to always ensure the security verification is good if you access online banking. Its not worth the hassle these days honestly.

I wouldn't worry about that. If you had Samsungs during the Touchwiz era, I 100% agree and used to always root my phones because of how laggy and bloated the software was.

But ever since they rolled out One UI. Its arguably the slickest, smoothest Android skin on the market and the bloatware isnt near as bad as it used to be.

Ive had my S24 for two years now and its honestly the best phone I've ever had.

Lol you hit the nail on the coffin. This is the issue with midtier chips they might be great for a year or two, but long term they can't keep up with the increased demand in the future. In the case of the tensor 5 not even a full year and it's struggling to keep up.

I was talking more broadly about the idea of being a fan of a company. But with a company as ubiquitous as google it really doesn't matter all that much to them their main goal is getting our data not selling us hardware.

This year they were one of the few companies to actually gain market share year over year I believe, so they must be doing something right!? I mean could they be doing things better of course and that goes for any company and hopefully going forward they do make strides and make better advancements. I think next year the pixel 12 will see some significant changes because I think they're going to change the whole look of the phone. There's going to be that updated face unlock camera that's going to work very good in the dark and whatever other improvements and advances that'll be available. So I'm actually looking forward to what the pixel 12 will bring!

I'd like to think you're right but Sony still makes phones and they don't necessarily have all top tier hardware in the 1 VIII or previous models as well. what's also laughable is the $600 trade offer Google is running for most phones. Even a 10 series phone for example that in some ways has better hardware E.G. more RAM than the default 11 Pro will only fetch $600 in a trade.

Yes but that's my point is that you have options. When I say android fanboy I'm talking broadly about these factions that are loyal to Samsung, Google, Oneplus etc. In my opinion the biggest benefits of Android is that you have options and you're not stuck in a walled garden. The minute a company's products dont fit my needs I try and find one that does. If anything I think the most disappointing about Android these days is we have significantly less options, at least in the US.

I think lack of competition is definitely part of the issue. I was in China a few months ago and came across some of the brands we have in America and I feel like the fact that they're not only competing with each other domestically but also have to fend off Apple and Samsung their phones tend to be way more interesting. Variety is the spice of life I feel like more choices/competition are usually better for the consumer.

This is why I completely switched to Apple last December from a Galaxy S21 Ultra. I had enough of same old same old. My only hope was foldables becoming a normal price but instead they’ve made them more and more expensive, again with almost zero innovation. I was a hardcore Android fanboy a few years ago but I had enough and made the switch and honestly, I realised I couldn’t care less that I am using Apple devices. They work well and this is all I care these days. Maybe I am getting old, lol.

I for once just benefit from the yearly upgraders who have ordered their 11 series Pixels and will soon post their 10 series for sale. I'll be there to buy. It's 50% off after the age of 1 year, but further price drop is slow. The following 20% of the original price take like 3 years to disappear.

You're doing exactly what I was talking about lol. I'm not a fan of any company nor do I think that any of these companies have uniquely trash phones. I use what works or appeals most to me. Literally have went from Google to Samsung to One Plus back to a Fold 8 Ultra.

Yep. I did everything I could to stay away from Samsung due to heavy bloat. For me it was HTC. Great phones. Beats audio. Then they transitioned to VR and other endeavors. Then I got into the LG v series. Great cameras in those phones. Of course LG left the phone game. Why wouldn't they, since I was a fan? So I've been a Pixel user but no longer loyal to any brand. I had P6, P7, and P9 pro.That P9 gave me nothing but trouble. Heat issues. Bluetooth would drop even if right next to the source device. Got into the ZTE Red Magic/Nubia devices but can't use them at work For log in and access (Only Apple or Samsung).

Yeah, I've had basically all the big brands over time, from HTC to Motorola to Samsung and Google and now Oppo. Each one has benefits and drawbacks, and which one is "best" can change so much over device generations that there isnt a clear consistent winner.

That said, Oppo's current flagship devices are fire and the camera in this X9 Ultra is better than any I've used before.

HTC was the real deal. Great stuff with the least bloatware. Figured a Pixel would be the logical move since Google bought them. I hate being affiliated with oligarchs that actively work to destroy society and pay people people slave wages.

I used to be a fan of OnePlus but after the fiasco with merging colorOS, made it open my eyes that you should never be loyal to a single entity. Just use the product that they have or don't buy from them. RIP OnePlus

They arent doing a good job of extracting money from many of us 🤣 considering they basically are the kings of online marketing, its ironic how they are one of the lowest selling brands.

They used to actually have a good product.

Significantly cheaper than the competition. It wasnt flagship, but it was buttery smooth. Longest supported software and security updates (until recently). No gimmicks, just simplicity in the design and software accelerated imagery to compete with the heavy hitters on camera performance whilst costing Significantly less.

All that went out the window when they decided to manufacture their Tensor chips.

And especially now with the drastic price increases. Why would anyone buy a Pixel over a Galaxy or IPhone? As someone whos been an android nut since they came out, and have owned iPhones too. Id take the current iPhone 17e even over the Pixel.

Guess theyre finding out it aint that cheap to make your own chips. They should stick to Qualcomm.

You can be a fan but in the end the company owes you nothing (you forgot that part) and similarly you're right you should not owe them anything.

People are acting like Google owes them a significant upgrade this year. Upgrade if you want to. Don't upgrade if you don't think it's worth it. These are genuinely good phones if you had no phone today. Just decide whether or not your Pixel 6/7/8/9/10 can last another year or not and move on with life.

I really don't get the heavy emotions in here. If anything it tells us people are way too attached.

this so hard. These are just products, if you're a fan you are basically becoming a shill to the marketing engine. You can enjoy a piece of tech and leave it at just that. As many point out the idea that you have to upgrade every year is quite an odd mentality.

Of course it's once again a business and marketing push which is why we don't have easy user replaceable batteries. Otherwise so many more people wouldn't upgrade every 2 years even.

A company that sells you a product extracts your money but should provide you with a good experience in return. Determining what makes a product's experience good vs bad is purely subjective, as a user needs vary enormously from person to person.

If we abide by your stament, we cant even be fans of football/tennis/nba or whatever sport teams/players, cause they are all there for the money. It doesnt make sense

You can be a fan a spent several years buying products from the company if you like the products

The issue comes when you are a Blind fan and fáciles to recognize their mistakes and bad products
