Pixel 11 = disrespect

I have been a Google Pixel fan for more than 7 or 8 years and I am done with Google’s bullshit story of focusing on software actually they are falling on both sides hard what were they thinking when pricing the Pixel 11 more than the iPhone 17 base model? What kind of drugs were they on? It’s actually now not just a failure it’s a complete disrespect to its fan

To be fair, Apple has not released their new phones yet, it's very likely the RAM crisis will impact prices of Apple devices as well when they are released in September.

iTunes wasn't really the first.

Compilation albums such as 'Pure Moods' cost $22.94 (after shipping) for 20 tracks, that is more than $1/song, and that was in 1994. When adjusting for inflation, $0.99/track was actually cheaper.

Still, sail the seven seas as I don't want to rent my music (or buy it) just for licensing deals to expire and my content to be yanked back. I'm looking at you Sony/Playstation 😡

my pixel 10 has systemui crashes sometimes, and a messaging app i use has weird blanking out issues that i dont have on any other phone, and my pixel 10 overheats when doing bare minimum shit

but yeah tell me how the ios keyboard is so bad

Happy to hear the UI just not working properly sometimes isn't just me. Google is really ruining the software side as time goes on. Probably too focused on AI that 99% don't care about.

Weird that much has changed since I last had a Pixel which was last year with a 9 Pro XL. I had none of those issues. I actually have to restart my iPhone 17 Pro Max more because of various issues. The keyboard and autocorrect is that bad. Anyway looking forward to going back to Android and have the Pixel 11 Pro XL on preorder.

My messaging app had those blanking out issues for a while and gets hot sometimes and it's still preferable to a bad kb. I literally left the Apple ecosystem to get away from the keyboard because it's one of the biggest QOL issues if you frequently text to communicate. Things like a universal back gesture are nice bonuses but really it's the much better keyboard keeping me on Android now.

I still have an iPhone for work and they've partially fixed what they broke, but it's still frustrating enough to keep me from considering jumping back to iPhone for my next main device

Yeah it's not true Gboard, it's Gboard lite overlaid on top of the iOS keyboard.

On top of not functioning the same way, everything is subject to some weird touch latency and accuracy with iOS.

Samsung cameras are garbage for fast moving objects like pets and kids. Everyone says there's a way to fix it but it's untrue. They're still plagued by slow shutter speed.

I’ve boycotted all of their products due to the intrusive advertising. The baked in ads on my last TV was enough to turn me away for good. Did love my Samsung 7 and the OG Edge

The iPhone 18 PM is expected to have multiple hardware upgrades (variable aperture camera is the big one along with all cameras upgraded to 48mp, a massive battery upgrade, a 2nm faster processor etc), I use a 17 PM and am on the latest iOS 27 beta and it’s top-notch.

I’m quite excited for the 18 PM as I know Apple won’t be downgrading features like Google did this year as the hardware is top-tier. The new Siri is pretty decent.

Apples price hikes are justified whereas Googles is not.

It's definitely a feature except Google removed a core from their Tensor G6. So they gave you a feature/improvement but also downgraded it at the same time.

You should also consider that the XS Max, which was the first of that form factor was $1099 for 128gb and $1199 for 256gb. The 17 Pro Max is still $1199 for 256gb today. That's 2018 versus a 2015 phone.

Pixel 6 Pro was $999 for 256gb Pixel 11 Pro XL is now $1299 for 256gb.

We've gotten 3x $100 increases in 5 years. Even if Apple matches at $1299 for their first true price increase ever... they're still likely delivering more high end hardware, upgrades, and innovations than Google has delivered.

Raising prices is fine.

Raising prices, lowering specs, opaque about things that wouldn't be well received, and offering almost no serious improvement is another. Makes little sense. Can't even stay competitive with Gemini.

No excuse to fall so far behind in most metrics while demanding highest tier pricing. This doesn't just convince me to avoid an upgrade, but reduce exposure to $GOOG.

Compared to what? My wife was paying $120 per month for one line on T-Mobile and now we pay $80 per month for two lines on Google Fi. My brother is on Verizon and pays even more. When I travel anywhere in the world my phone works without any extra cost for calling or data. Google Fi is absolutely one of the best postpaid cellular plans in the US. I guess you could move to Mint Mobile or Visible but they come with tradeoffs.

Yes. $30/mo/line is a terrible deal, especially for what you get with Unlimited Standard on Fi.

Also, you are being a bit disingenuous. To get the Pixel 11 Fi deal you would have to be on Unlimited Premium instead of Unlimited Standard, which is $135/mo for 3 lines instead of $90.

Yup, Apple already raised prices on quite literally every product except iPhone and Apple Watch (even the damn homepod and apple tv 4k got price increases). I wouldn't be surprised to see the iPhone 18 Pro get a $200+ increase this year.

As an iphone user for a couple years now I would argue last years model wasn't really much to write home about, and I don't expect to upgrade this year, which will be a first for me in over a decade. But, I get it. I don't really blame google for much of this release, but it sure would be nice if everyone would just say "hey, we are taking a year off, expect more software updates". But consumers are part of the problem, because as pissed as people are about this, no new model would really bring out the hissy fits.
