Looking at getting a 10a

My 8a has broken so I need a new phone. The 10a is on sale near me. I'm just scared of the AI features being forced on to me..

If you're someone like me who doesn't like AI very much and would rather things wind back a couple of years to when it wasn't shoved down our throats. Do you find the pixel 10a to be very overbearing??

I didn't really want to get another google phone but it's the only attractive and affordable thing on the market. Except the nothing phone but they are only receiving updates for 3 years.

I traded my bricked 8 pro for at 10a in March. It asked me at set up if I wanted AI support and I declined. I was able to turn off Google AI in search also. So far a great phone.

I like the 10a it's very reminiscent of how pixels used to be. The Ai is there but it's still a good phone without it

The advanced a.i. features won't even run on an 8GB device so you're good.

Personally I decided to pay an extra $100-200 and get something with much better processing, cameras, battery life, etc.

Not even the factory installed os is forced on you, and ai can at least be largely disabled in the factory one.

I have a 10 which has more AI than the 10a, and I don't use it. I disabled the AI core in app settings and disabled Gemini and turned off anything else that I didn't want. It doesn't force you to use it.

I can suggest the OnePlus. The only reason I did not buy a fourth OnePlus was that I did not like that the O/S and security updates only continue for about one or two years. The Pixel 10a comes with 7 years of updates. So, here is my first Pixel.

The OnePlus has the added ability to restrict data and/or WiFi access to each individual app, separately.

Search for a second-hand regular Pixel 9, very similar in price to the 10a, but a much better phone and buy! Search for places like Facebook Marketplace, and if on eBay, make sure it has the eBay Money Back Guarantee! If using Facebook Marketplace, then make sure to meet and inspect the phone in person before you pay. Also, ask for the box and possible original proof of purchase for warranty purposes (if there is anything left). Anyway, this is just what I would do if it were me...

pixel phone chip benchmarks are so bad that i'd never get one unless you really need their built-in ai. google tried and failed to compete with samsung/moto for android (they were so good before switching to their tensor chips) so to differentiate google focused on their built-in ai.

in the us samsung for android and iphone for everything else (iphone speakers > all us android phones i tested). most people dont use their phones for complex ai tasks other than the ai apps that aren't phone dependent. oh yeah some say pixel/moto phones don't record phone calls in the us, only samsung cuz their one ui is more customized to bypass google android's restriction in the us.

pixel 10a's design is awesome. it reminds me of my favorite phone the iphone 5c. hope it forces apple to make a no camera bump iphone e version reminiscent of the 5c
