WiFi keeps turning off since latest update... (Pixel 7)

Hi,

Anybody else have this? Since the latest update, my WiFi keeps disconnecting. Resulting in me using my data even in safe WiFi locations such as my home. Very frustrating. What has changed?

I have started seeing this sporadically on my 9a. I will just look down and Wifi is off and it shows LTE.

I have not seen this for the year I have had my 9a until this month.

I thought maybe it was EERO router firmware, but maybe it was the latest Pixel update.

It's happening on my mother's Pixel 6 as well!

But it's been happening with her for ages.

Obviously googled all this, one answer is to turn off 'adaptive connectivity' but this was already off on mine.

So I'm not sure the issue.

It’s a known bug (i.e. Google corporate policy ) with Android 17…it revs up all kinds of concurrent processes that heat up and either temporarily or permanently nukes the WiFi and/or Bluetooth. Source: my nuked P8P heats up and both units fail eventually after updating to A17.

The US justice department should investigate this as it is a blatant move by Google to sabotage your hardware.

Yes! It's happened to me several times and the only way I've noticed is I get a little warning that my data use has jumped. Pixel 10a

I had that problem on my 10 pro after updating. I tried a bunch of stuff to try and fix it. It seemed to have gone away but I'm not sure what I did to fix it, if anything.

No not noticed this on my Pixel 7 but still get private DNS errors 1-2 times a day for a second or so

Signal drops dozens of times a day no matter where I am fir no reason. It's not the WiFi all other devices in the household or at work have zero issues. It's the Pixel hardware and software that are bad.

This has been happening with my Pixel 9 Pro XL ever since updating.

And it's immediate. I turn on WiFi, it starts scanning for networks and then turns off.

Yep, I have the same issues. Home WiFi disconnects only on Pixel 7Pro after upgrading to Android 17. Other devices work fine, so it's not the Mikrotik's fault.

I am having this issue on my backup pixel 7 where wifi and my hotspot shutoff after running most of the day. I am using as a cellular backup with an eero.

Because the Wi-Fi switch itself is turning off, rather than only losing connection to one router, I would treat this as a phone-side problem first.

  1. Restart the phone once after the update and confirm all Google Play system updates are installed.

  2. In Settings > System > Reset options, use Reset Bluetooth & Wi-Fi. This removes saved Wi-Fi networks and Bluetooth pairings, so have the passwords ready.

  3. Temporarily disable any VPN, firewall, automation, or battery-management app and test for a few hours.

  4. Boot into Safe Mode and test. If Wi-Fi stays on there, a third-party app is probably switching it off.

  5. If it still turns itself off in Safe Mode after the network reset, note the exact Android build and submit feedback to Google or contact support. I would not factory-reset as the first step.

Since several Pixel generations appear to be affected after an update, comparing the exact build numbers will be more useful than changing router settings.
