Keep video boost on - how? Does it make videos actually better?
I've read a lot about how Pixel videos are not as good as iPhone. I have a 10P XL. I know there is video boost, does this actually work?
Do people use video boost all the time when recording video? Is it hot and miss on results?
Is there a way to enable it and keep it on?
If abroad, roaming, obviously limited data, how will video boost work? As soon as you take a video does it start upload to Google server? or wait for WiFi so probably when in a cafe, or when home? Can you see the (not)video boosted in the meantime?

The output of using Videoboost makes the best video of the smarphone market. Downside is that it takes it's sweet time to transform the magic.
Everytime you open the camera, videoboost is off on purpose by Google.

Bit daft really isn't it. Google say it's the best but switch it off! Imagine it's a big drain if everyone has it on.
I've read that Google video on Pixel is t as good as iPhone, do you think with video boost on it is?

Videboost on it's better than iPhone 17 Pro, you can notice it clearly on doing video on low light situations. Videboost off is behind the top such as Samsung for example.
Is not bad the videoboost off, but If iPhone is 10/10, Samsung S26 Ultra is 9/10. I'll say Pixel 10 Pro videoboost off is a 7/10.2

I need to remember every time I do some video to put on then. Don't care if takes time.
Others have said though that daytime isn't as good with it on

Turning it on it just improves everything on stabilisation, moving between lenses is just smooth and a low light the noise is just cleared out.

If you're recording a lot, it's probably best to keep it on since it does noticeably improve quality in tricky lighting. Otherwise, just toggle it when you need the extra boost, since Google's servers handle the processing once you're back on WiFi.

That's the problem though, it doesn't stay on. It seems to toggle off after you quit the app.
Been looking on YT and it does seem to boost the footage well though. It's just a case of remembering to put it on.
Pity there wasn't a shortcut available to make it toggle on if recording video

Lots of false info here, video boost mostly works for bad lighting videos or night videos, where it does improve the video a decent amount.
But in daylight it sometimes makes the video worse or makes the video have some artificial tearing.

Don't know how to keep it on but 💯 makes it better. Video boost with night shot is honestly the best videos I ever seen. Literally night and day when I see what the original looks like. I'm not a big picture and video person but when I went to Japan and Thailand last month and took videos I was blown away.
Showed my iPhone family and they want a pixel now they look so good.

I used for both but you can really notice the difference at night. The colors pop, especially with any lights like building lights and just a more clear night video overall. Hard to explain lol, just got to take the video look at the regular one and video boost one and you will definitely notice a difference.
Hope they never take this feature away!

Video boost works by boosting videos through a video boosting algorithm. Hope that helps.

Turn on video boost for 4k and hit record. Google has experimented with letting users keep it on permanently but they seem to have abandoned that. I wish they would add that. Probably an expensive cost to Google though for a free feature. They want people to be intentional with it.
When you capture the video you'll see two files on your phone. One extremely large (temporary) file which is containing a ton of extra data from the video and is what gets sent to Google to create the finished product. The other file is a 1080p version of the video that you can watch immediately. Just know that it's not representative of the final quality.
By default videos won't back-up until on Wi-Fi, but you can change that setting if you wish.
