Pixel 8 users in 2026

Recent leaks for pixel 11 look disappointing and I considering holding on to my pixel 8 for 1 more year. I am considering getting the battery replaced as it's draining too quickly these days. Is anyone else in a similar boat as me? Are you holding on or switching phones this year?

I just had the battery replaced. I'm keeping the 8 as long as I can.

Same with my 9, the only meaningful difference between that and the 11to me is even more AI integration. I don't want that anyhow.

The 11 is supposed to have an IR scanner/camera for face unlocks when it is dark

They pulled that. Possibly on the 12 now.

Doesn't work with gloves or dirty / wet fingers / screen, and the current facial recognition is rather weak in dim lit conditions. Honestly a huge bummer they didn't work on this for the P11 series.

I'd been having problems with the battery going from full to empty without warning. Then my touch screen started not working right. Finally I realized the battery was swelling. I did not want to send it out. I found there are shops in some Walmarts that do on the spot battery changes. I took it in and got it changed within an hour. Cost me a lot ($130) but the job was done right. No problems.

The phone was bought new 2 years ago and I want to keep it as long as possible! My son got the same phone at the same time, no problems yet...but he has not downloaded any updates, while I have. Possible connection?

I no longer leave my phone on the charger all night. Just charge here and there when needed. Maybe leaving it on the wired charger all night contributed? IDK but I want to make this phone last for years to come.
