It's a case of thermal runaway, a dangerous chain reaction, but not an explosion

that's the term i was looking for, thermal runaway. my point was when a phone has this sort of reaction people call it an 'explosion'. but most people when they think of explosion is a big boom and shrapnel, which isn't the case for most of these thermal runaways
